...a new insulin replacing Lantus is being scripted , possibly in your next prescription.

I believe it is still insulin Glargine(rbe).

    Called Optisulin.

Same thing according to my lovely wife who happens to be a diabetes nurse educator in one of her disguises.

So, don't panic if you see a new name being used.

My free (ndss government subsidised) CGM monitoring run has come to an end, this is now going to cost me close to $6000 a year. Just another kick in the guts.

Shocker mate. Why has the funding been removed? Have a LOUD chat with your local Member state and federal. Make the responses very public as well would be my tip.

The instant warnings/information for my mum (type1) are outstanding.

Interesting side note. Recently found one that failed. Something to do with a med given to her in hospital. It was a known issues which surprised me. I was a little surprised the hospital did not know and despite being told gave her the medicine.

    Link to Known Dexcom interference

The issue found a topic raised earlier. I went to get replacement for the broken device. It was late Sunday and only three chemists were open in Warrnambool. Zero had them as a stocked item!

I was able to get them the next morning at a pharmacy as they were stocked in a smaller country town! I appreciate the devices have a use by date and aren't cheap. You clearly need to be organized and careful with them!

Hope you can get some help. Love to see the cost of them reduced so use by the many people who would benefit and supply issue was not quiet as tricky.

Well when covid hit, the project i was working on came to an end, and no other jobs around, was fortunate/unfortunate enough to get a health care card, thats expired now.
This thing made my life so much easier and bearable, so i will see if there is anyway i can get some kind of subsidy.

Some one else I know is using "libre freestyle" at $90 per fortnight. Health insurance covers a bit to $500 per year for that person.

Its is not on the same page as the Dexcom really. A lot better than random testing and can easily be used by loved ones trying to help in some urgent circumstances.

    EDIT

Tax system used to help yet seems to be removed in 2019? "Net medical expenses tax offset calculator

From 1 July 2019, the tax offset for net medical expenses for disability aids, attendant care or aged care is no longer available.

    "

Feel free to ask the politician you might like to chat with how that helps people like you who have significant medical expenses and NOT on the NDIS.

Are you a member of NDSS? - National Diabetes Service Scheme.

Your doctor should qualify you if you are not.

Just about everything diabetic is free on the scheme , and believe me , centrelink reviewed my transactions through chemists and reimbursed me thousands of dollars in medical/chemist expenses.

Overtime should be a luxury and not a necessity to survive.
