Anyone have any news on the Hungerford to Wanaaring road? Apparently Hungerford road is closed at the border, I rang NP Qld, and they say that the park is open.
I'm also interested in the condition of the roads out that way as we only have 2wks before we head out that way as well. The plan was to come home via Wanaaring to Hungerford (call into the Currawinya National Park there) then continue north to Eulo and home from there....it won't be until the 1st or 2nd week of July before we get to that part so hoping its all open by then

    Hey Rob,

We are actually looking at getting there on the 27th June, and staying a few nights. But we are coming form Eulo end and heading south through hungerford, wanaaring, bourke, then I was contemplating heading east to Lightening ridge and straight north from there.

Yes, it was done by using Garmin Basecamp program with version AusTopo Maps. I find that's the only program that I've found that suits me for what I like doing. You can create routes, then convert to a track log, etc. I've seen Hema but that's limited to what zoom in level u can go down to before it becomes pixelated.
That's just what I've found anyways....

Debruiser , I went through to Tibooburra via Bourke/Wanaaring a bit over a year ago and there were some terrible suspension crashing washouts which caught me unawares. The road is not well maintained , keep your eyes open. Enjoy it though....I saw filghts of roos out there in numbers I hadn't seen in 40 yrs.......also huge mobs of emus. I'm not sure I would want to do it poor light.

Awesome!!!! Hopefully we can break the Patrol travelling with us! No I'm kidding, we don't need any of that.

Thank you for the 'road report' you just got me a little more excited! I'll make sure the MRS has the camera on her lap!

All unsealed roads in the Bourke district were closed yesterday due to rain and with the rain forecast for tomorrow and Wed/Thur I suspect they'll stay closed for the rest of the week at least.
