Really.....do you think this is the right sort of place to be putting in writing these sort of problems and creative replies. Now "the perp" if he/she has any sort of wherewithal about him/her knows that he is getting to you and yours. At the end of it all if anything happens to "the perp", you and your will be the first to be spoken to by the constabulary.
Go dark for a while and then sort it.

Off-hand it seems guns are generally used by crims against each other to warn or kill, or used in major robberies - illegal guns are just that bit more expensive and hard to get. There are the exceptions like Monis, or civvy who is licensed and shoots his family, a farmer who shoots an inspector etc.
So, more police more responsive and sympathetic, better trained and equipped, with a better support system for them and the aggrieved. Improved assessment of those wishing to own guns, weeding out pyschos and domestic villains. More money to customs to cut illegal arms coming in.
Just postulating, in our society, are the odds in your favor that the villain facing you is unlikely to have been be able to get a firearm? OK, he's got a knife! If it's robbery, give them what they want. If its intent to kill you with the knife then run, and in desperation out with the mace - there's no predicting whether someone will use their mace, but one would expect when you buy it there should be defense classes you attend.
So, a society with hard to get illegal firearms. Your general thug uses knives. How effective is a knife against a cloud of mace (trained person care to comment)? Arms race? Thug now uses mace or taser because it is more effective on victim and less danger to himself, and lesser sentence if caught. Thug gets his way, but you are not stabbed!? Aggression still exists, but mode of expression is less fatal.
Original post, would suggest restraining order, and group support. Hassle authorities if order in anyway breached and get media focus if necessary (re any lack of action by the authorities, focus on resources).
The preferred option Working on it is to stay within the law as you have suggested. I spent 5yrs working in a maximum security prison. The best part of it was getting to go home everyday.
I would suggest the perp is ultimately a coward and we will get peace at the threat of legal action or a couple of the local constabulary knocking on his door.
Let say I'm going to mug you ... YOu have mace in your bag/belt/pocket. I can guarantee you will be either unconscious or seriously hurt before your hand leaves the bag/pocket/etc. The second your hand moves to retrieve a weapon ( I won't know what it is .... if your crazy your reaching for a tissue to blow your nose ... I'm going to assume knife or gun). Whatever is closest will be the target. I probably smash the knee backwards the way it was never intended to go. If I'm closer, throat/head strike with an elbow or fist.Quote:

I have a friend that was jumped by someone in the street a few years ago... They guy pulled out a knife. Get this ... he looked down to open the folding blade.... Yes he looked away. He must have woken up hours later wondering what the hell happened. The friend still has his pocket knife as a souvenir. This is why you can't always run away from a fight.. if someone is in your face it's too late. look away and you'll get hurt instantly.

I'm just going to make this crystal clear so there can be no room for misinterpretation or twisting of the facts.
At no time am I interested in revenge or hurting this person. We walked away from everything they had anything to do with.
I walked away from pretty much everything as well. It's one of the reasons I have never set up a Facebook account. Keep it legal, but at the same time, stand your ground.
I keep contemplating shutting down my Facebook account myself but there's no way the victim will even though they rarely put anything up.Quote:
