Loy Yang is anything but reliable. They’ve had multiple units trip over the last couple of months - they have some big dramas to contend with that’s for sure.

from what i understand, the trips are not related to the fuel/boilers but to something in the switchyard?
    your thoughts?

It can be made reliable again but money needs to be spent. When it was in Government ownership it was left in a holding pattern for years with no shuts or any meaningful maintenance. Also the morale there is in the toilet at the moment due to the staff and pay cuts.

Yes the magic pixies are playing up. The coal supply, open cut, bunkering and boilers are ok,

No, Hazelwood was very reliable but it had more stable ownership for a long time and money was spent most of the time when needed, but nothing like the old SEC days (for better or worse)

Hazelwood was utterly reliable. I have posted a link here before, It may take me some time to find it again now, but Hazelwood was putting out more than 90% of it's Nameplate output on the day the idiots pulled the plug. After being online nearly as long as I have been alive. It was in perfect health, there was a plan in place to bring it up to scratch in today's terms, for less than a billion dollars. Now, a billion seems a big number, but there is no viable replacement for Hazelwood that can come on line for less than TEN times that amount. Forget Mal's big Snowy 2 Battery, it will never be built, it was merely a device to take the focus off the bloke Mal knifed. We have absolutely no plan to fix the power issue, no matter how much the CA clowns on this forum choose to kid themselves.

20 years ago, Australia was a First World country. Now, we are considered to be approaching third world status. There are people on here, on THIS forum, who applaud this!

I come from a heritage that fought for the values of being Australian. When I read the posts, such as I have read today about temperatures, I despair for this country. What a bunch of lily livered, led by the nose sooks we have become. Al Gore is a billionaire because of fools, and we stood by and watched.

So many fools have been bred, so many people who choose to merely listen, rather than learn. This forum, unfortunately, has become a hotbed for that thinking. Sadly, you know who you are, and you are happy. My late wife's father spent 3 years as a prisoner of the Japanese on the infamous railway. He would hate the attitude we are seeing today. In fact I KNOW he hates it, as he is still here. But, what his generation fought for, what made this a great country, is ignored by so many people, people who have NO idea what being Australian means. There are a few who frequent CA that fit this bill.

Sorry, forum, that is enough. Tough few days, edit this as you see fit.

I am heartily sick of fools.

Hazelwood only closed because the Victorian Government ( see how careful I am ) chose to triple the royalties for the coal Hazelwood used. It is interesting that the Victorian Government did NOT do the same thing for the other generators in the LaTrobe Valley. Nothing political though, hey Gav?

IMO, the Govt. are political creeps. 309 days to go. If Victorians reelect this Govt, then fine. I reckon there are better places than here.

Yeah, Gav, I know...CA. They won't let me in. IMO it is cowardice. Cannot handle difference...
