I understand that, (not just about your looked forward to with eagerness "Happy Hour".) I'd join you if I could.

I have posted previously about my concerns for Grand Kids & Great Grand Kids & those hitherto unknowns that are still to come.

But there is SFA I can do about it personally & hope next generations can improve on the mess we seem determined to leave behind. Like many others I have made my contribution to the world just doing my previous job & imparting any skills I may have had. Much like you have I would guess.
There seems too much **** going on to be able to see the sky with all the dark clouds constantly popping up. "Ah ****, here we go again."

Nobody appears to have solutions to any of this crap day after day after day & if you have some Bob, I'd like to hear them provided they are real solutions & not just hyperbole. Those I can get from Politicians.

    Goes off muttering crap.

Thanks for ruining that childhood memory. When I was a little tacker and saw the lemmings jumping over the cliff [ come to think of it, it was a Disney movie ] I told my Mum I was going to save the lemmings when I grew up. When you think about it , I might be subconsciously trying. That can't be true though, because my wife tells me often I haven't grown up. That doesn't explain why just about all those in denial over CC [ put the initials up because those two words seem to cause so much angst here. ] are boomers. Oh well, there's always Monty Python, I guess.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

I think part of the problem is we have all been fed what can only be called propaganda from our mainstream media. This has resulted in disillusioned citizens turning to social media for direction. And we know how that turned out. But there is a wave of concerned lemmings [ got to love lemmings ] around the world gathering momentum. I've been quietly observing this ' movement ' for want of a better word, and so have big business. Big business around the world, but mainly in Europe has seen there is BIG money to be made from renewables, and the smart ones have positioned themselves to be on the ground floor, so to speak. And so has China. Say what you like about China, but they see further ahead than an election cycle , and if the news about them declaring that they are pushing for zero emissions in the future, is on the level, this could be the catalyst [ a person or thing that precipitates an event. {put this in because I wasn't sure what it meant, exactly}] the world is looking for. The result of a certain election in a country far far away will determine if this groundswell turns into a tsunami, . I was thinking [ a rare thing around these parts] that of all the human emotions that could come in to play to kick start the human race into actually taking CC seriously, it is the base emotion of greed , that is , we can make a quid out of it, Alfred E Neumann was right. It's a MAD MAD MAD world. CHEERS

Bob one line in your post nailed it 100%

    “Big business sees big profit”

And that is the key driver of everything. Big business isn’t doing what’s good for the environment - it’s doing what’s good for them (under the pretence of being Good Global citizens).

Never confuse this.... Big storm and no power in SA

Yes I do & I have a tree outside my window here that is covered in them at the mo. Round yellow things that smell luverly.. Good with Fish & Chips.

They also add a splash of colour to a somewhat grey day here.

The common denominator is that many here run a Series LR. Or try to.

but why doesnt the "big battery" have the same hatred of other big companies?

all they are there to do is making a profit. why are they not labeled as profiteers like the power stations are?

Tombie, that has always been the way. I don't care if big business makes a squillion out of renewables, if it helps the environment. Besides, it might take the focus off making squillions out of Arms manufacturing. People around the world will still go to war to kill one another, let them do it with sticks and stones, not high tech killing machines. I actually find myself agreeing with Malcolm Turnbull . For a change. [ this is not a political statement. ]

China's net-zero target will boost fight against climate change: Turnbull

Add a splash of Lemming to the elixer of life [ Bundy rum ] and you get Cuba Libre, or free Cuba, a revolutionary cry from the days of Castro. [ You meet many such characters sailing around the world. I remember some dark and broody North Africans in the bars of Toulon in southern France, but I digress] All of which makes as much sense as trying to run a series LR in this day & age. Or perhaps that is the only thing that makes sense now, harking back to more pleasant times. So , a toast to the eccentrics of this world, may they go forth and multiply! now where is that elixer of life.......

Er Bob you do realise that the lemmings were driven off the cliff by the film production crew I hope.

similarly with an Attenborough movie where Walruses jumped off a cliff, they were driven by the production crew.

So to me it shows that some people will go to great ends to legitimise what are basically lies.

    Regards PhilipA
