Thread: What would you buy

I second Daves points,, if your new to the 4x4 scene, some sound advice on how to drive is the best thing you can do.
I've been driving 4x4's for about 30 years now,, never had a "lift kit" or bigger than standard tyres. Never really been outdone by big kitted vehicles either.
IMO, learn to drive first, you'll be surprised where you'll go, and just how far you will too. Start making modifications to you vehicle and you'll have to keep on going to keep it going.
Things like dual batteries and a fridge or an air compressor would be my first choice, unless your planning on driving through roo type country, then a bull bar first instead.

Driver training for yourself, then save what's left for when things go wrong!

- Driver training
- Recovery points & gear so you can get out if stuck
- Bash plates to protect vulnerable points to reduce risk of getting stuck
- Tires (Tyres)
- Cargo barrier to prevent gear from being flung around.

I 100% agree with the 'get some training' camp.
There's an old saying, albeit in terrible grammar, 'Land Rovers never get stuck, only drivers do.'

Lots of very wise advice in this thread... and I'd dare say probably a couple of hundred years of combined experience....

I'm sure you can see the theme.....skills first.. toys second...

By then you'll probably avoid wasting money on the wrong toys too..
