We were burgled 30 yrs ago, after which we considered a burglar alarm,...which many people ignore,...false alarm etc.
So, we installed window bars & VERY strong STEEL security doors with 4 pin locks etc.
No-one will get into our place,...if the doors are locked.
We never worried about locking ''m during the day, when we were in the house,.....but we do now.

Well, the virus is spreading. I see youths are on a rampage at Wacol Youth Detention Centre in Brisbane. I guess they saw the Melbourne ferals doing it so they thought they would copy cat. Leave them on the roof I say, they will come down when they are thirsty and hungry, then make them fix the damage.

Actually, three of the scumbags were recently transferred from Townsville, for pulling the same stunt there.
Put them on half rations, they've obviously got excess energy.

The bottom line is there is NO discipline at all,NONE,at the centre.

The media forgot to mention they completely trashed the inside of the building before getting onto the roof.

And they also forgot to mention this has happened numerous times in the last few years,it was kept hush hush.

Blind Freddy can see the system does not work.

The previous system seemed to work reasonably well.

We have been contractors at the centre since it was built,and at the previous centre,before it was rebuilt and given to the RSPCA.

So we see a lot of what goes on.

I agree with the previous post - the current system is failing. Why?
Locking up youths in centres with nothing to do but get bored is a recipe for trouble. Family breakdown and high youth unemployment as technology destroys entry level jobs is leaving an unskilled generation without hope, just as has happened in Aboriginal society.

Destroying people for vengeance has little chance of reforming anyone. Anyone who has been to Port Arthur and read about the failed isolation prison based on the ideas of Elizabeth Fry would know that that approach was a total disaster which led to riots and suicides, yet here we are 150 years later repeating the same mistakes.

Instead of punishing them through isolation, they should be in programs which encourage them to reform their habits and learn useful skills. People need to see a path to a better future if they are to want to change their lives. However governments have slashed funding for TAFE and social reform programs. Now we are seeing the results and they are very serious.
