It continues.
Speeding Ice affected driver who slammed into another vehicle killing the driver has been bailed,..laughing & smiling leaving court. Magistrate says He didn't have the power to jail him.
Pickles.
The whole system really is out of touch with what decent society expects.
And then of course, the way things are going, thugs are going to end up getting hurt and in hospital (maybe) because someone they’ve broken into is able to defend themselves well,,, and the original victim will be prosecuted to the enth degree.
Yep I'm over these ice addict ****** and home invaders getting off lightly.. one day they will try it on the wrong person and be dead them selves!
So playing devils advocate , what does society do with those who are deemed beyond redemption. Permanent incarceration , execution or banishment to some isolated area ?
Just druggies , or include any person who habitually commits , such as litterers , corporate thieves or users of mobiles when driving ?
I dont think it’s about being “the devils advocate” at all,,, it’s just about us expecting that when someone is found guilty of committing a crime, they are punished appropriately to what the average person expects.
The way things are going now with the do-gooders and they’re politically correct softly softly approach, has done nothing to quell the current surge in violent crimes,, doesn’t matter what it stems from, be it drugs or just arseholes,,,, it needs to be stopped.
The system needs to change and send a clear message to these cretinous scum so they’ll think twice about committing a crime in the first place.
In a previous occupation I have dealt with adult offenders, who have no fear of 'the system' or any 'penalty'(knowing how weak it all is, and how they can work it). In my current job I see people who have no fear of losing their job by doing the wrong thing, as they know how to work the system. I know ex teachers who say that the kids in school have no fear of repercussions for their actions.
That is the society we have made. The only thing that stops the majority from offending....is that most of us have some sort of moral compass. While we continue down the PC, and softly-softly model, we will continue to have certain members of our society doing whatever they please to the rest of us.
Chinese taxi driver in Sydney lamenting this as well while driving me home from the airport yesterday - he says that in China drink driving was a major issue up to a few years ago. The toll was shocking. Government then made it the rule that for even "low range" drink driving the driver would face IMMEDIATE jail for 14 days. No excuses, no exceptions.
Sorted things out nicely.
(edit: Just to add that the 14 days immediate jail is just a precursor for whatever the normal penalty may be. Doesn't replace existing penalties)
Hi,
That might just work here too.
Cheers
