Law & Order is STUFFED.

It was suggested that instead of highlighting the insufficient sentences, that we also highlight proper sentences. I turned on the 4pm news and there were two headlines.

1)Male who killed toddler by dangerous driving escaping police...minimum of 13yrs gaol. To me, that little girls life is worth a lot more than his deprivation of liberty for 13yrs.

But on the other side of the ledger....

2)Husband who executed wife with a firearm, gets 31yrs. Now that is more like it(considering that he is old enough to probably not ever be free again).

Geordie I appreciate your comments but the "narrow minded nonsense" relates to the constant and offensive attacks here on judges and lawyers and they are just that. The other stuff is debatable and I dont mind that at all but the attacks on lawyers irrespective of an what an insider's view can bring just proves there is no point me adding anything further. It is an emotive subject (sentencing) and some people on this thread clearly just want to vent their own views. So all good. Cheers

Life isn't a movie ... people die really easily. A knife I reckon is one of the scariest things out there. and they worry me far more than firearms ever will in australia.

Just called me the scrawny scared one.... 'Cos I'm not fighting unless there is absolutely no option. Would I stand and watch the bashings and crap that are going on .............. Not ever. But I'm still not fighting unless there is simply no other option.

Yea the guy i knocked out and the one that attempted to kill 2 kids, one of which was my son but both of which were in my care was a heroin addict and a heavy alcoholic. But part of a family of equally minded individuals. I have the video where 8 of them with weapons come to my house earlier that day and smashed my place up if you really want to see it. Even smashed my disco back window the ******. (I was not home at the time)
Im quite familiar with that world despite your thoughts.
I know people die easily. I have seen them dig a body out of the property i lived on after my old man killed him and buried him there. I grew up in a hard life and have seen quite a bit. Most i wont discuss.

Not really. Everyones experience in life is different. See how quickly things escalate :( 8 people with weapons == hope your hiding quickly enough ... but what happens if you have kids there............ Ringing the police is absolutely pointless. I guess its better than nothing. I watched a group of teenage kids smashing up a local hall full of terrified kids a few years back. I went over and told them to **** off, and that I've rang the police (no I'm not tough, I had my giant sized rottie on a lead beside me .... the dog wouldn't hurt a fly .... seriously never. But they will NEVER let anyone touch there family .... not ever ...). Anyway, the police arrived remarkably promptly. And hid the other side of a slight rise in the road and waited until the kds had finished terrifying the kids in the hall (smashing it up) and left. To say I was ****ed off was an understatement.

A few years back, I was at the coles/safeway carpark in town. I saw someone trying to get into my car ... So I yelled loudly "hey you, I can see you trying to smash into my car" .... Loudly so everyone else in the carpark would watch him and there cars.............. He ran away. Just to prove what a moron I am, I didn't watch him as he ran away. He actaully ran over to the public toilets. I have my key in hand about to put it in the car door when I see him coming back ................. with 13 other teenagers (that is what I counted either way). There was even a couple of girls at the back. The guy is now "a big hero" and comes in swinging. "you want to fight me do you ?" ... He's way bigger than me, about 6' 4" ... and his friend beside him tells me he'll stab me in the neck if I try anything ... so I start walking backwards into safeway ... blocking the haymakers is nothing... I could easily take him down ... cripple him for life and seriously hurt the guy that claims he is going to stab me .... Nothing easier in the world. But what if the other 11 pull knives ?? So I just block haymakers all the way back to safeway at which point they run away.

Now being attacked doesn't concern me much ( I was stupid enough not to be concentrating on my surroundings). The number of them didn't concern me a lot. Most likely I would have taken out the first two (leaving them with life long injuries) and the others would have run away. What REALLY aggravated me was as I entered the supermarket everyone wanted to know "are you ok ?? We saw everything through the windows!" .... Not one single person came to my aid. The police station overlooks this carpark. I gave up waitiing for them to attend and went home after 45minutes ( they must have watched the whole thing through there windows and laughed).

If the **** ever hits the fan, the police will NOT be there. Its a waste of time ringing them. Its all on yourself to get yourself out of the situation. This is possible if you are there by yourself. What if your wife and kids are there.... You can't flee then?

I had to laugh as a few months later some person rang me and said am I the one that was attacked "Yep " ... was my response. Well the guy had been caught doing something else and admitted to trying to "bash" someone in the coles carpark. She wanted me to come in and tell me how being a victim had affected my life .... Sadly she told I wasn't welcome when I said "I've been looking for that asshole for weeks. If I ever see him on the street without 13 friends I'm going to beat the living **** out of him ... I'm no victim ... I'm bloody itching to catch up with the asshole.".

It really is the unlikley this sort of stuff ever happens. Random attacks are pretty much statistically non-existent in our society fortunately. We are so lucky to have been born in this country where this stuff happens so rarely. I know its in the media ALL of the time.... The reason why it is actually a huge deal in the media is it happens so rarely, its heavily reported.... it sells a ****load of papers too!

I was not home or i would have confronted them. I do have it all on security camera, atleast until they smashed them.
When i did get home later thats when that twit come to my house and attempted to kill my son and a guest with the tazer.
Yes there were children here. My 4 and 2 others staying over. Your clearly not reading what i am saying or you would have known he attempted to KILL 2 children that were with me.
After our altercation he did infact come back again a third time with 4. Not kids though he is a grown man around 50 years old. Youngest of all these was around 19.
Cops were called 7 times. How do i know that? They did infact arrive after everything had ended and told my wife they have been called 7 times by neighbors.
They took photos of my shashed car and left saying they will return to get the security footage. Never come back.

Anyway enough about that particular incident. No point reliving it.

Hey you want to know something that is totally ****ed? This whole family fight started over one of my kids posting a nude girl on his mates snap chat! (youngest son of above family)
All over snap chat, had i pushed it and told the cops about the tazer he would be in jail for years. Over a snap chat post! INSANE.

One commentator (not sure of his quals) suggested the perp "only" got 31 years, instead of life, because he was judged to be no threat to the rest of society... he was only ever a threat to one person, the wife he executed.

Comments like that, i.e. the sentence was softened to 31yrs because the perp is not a threat to the rest of us, make my head spin a little....

Through history humans have tried punishment harsh and lean.
Neither have been proven to work. If any Lean would be more likely to work. Atleast some have the chance at redemption as apposed to them killed.

Precrime sort of sutff is what people will ultimately want.
Catch someone before they commit the crime.
