Welfare. Can't Get A Job,..Yeah Right.

I was involved as an employer of a lot of casual staff that we require to unload boats, in a employment program thru the prison using low security prisoners that were close to release to try and get them into the mindset of employment , it was actually a good program that no longer runs due to government red tape.


The funniest part was several times we received more people than we requested , and when I asked how they managed to get here they said they just got on the bus.. Think about it... This is people walking out of prison and no one knowing till it was reported we had more workers than we wanted.


The hardest part of my job is finding casual workers to do boat unloads.

Yeh I know Frantic.. But I also understand where people that are unemployed are coming from... Down this neck of the woods, there is seasonal work, but alas the powers that be like centreblink(because one blink problem solved- never) dont see the work, they see problem being in country, move to city, problem solved...

But we have a lack of workers and skilled workers also are hard to find.. Then you also get the BS that goes with country towns.. Alas why few know me they just know of me..

In relation to my DVA claim, I have an Advocate that has done quite a few high court claims. The Organisation there involved with, has done a lot of claims, mine is the worst they have seen. Probably high court next year, still chasing information, and DOD are getting sick of me ringing, so there checking every pebble in there searches, they tried the rocks but no info, so I want pebbles checked now...

Is it an easy road, No been travelling this for 28 years, been smashing down walls for that time, and lost a home and business in the process(only money, easy come easy go).. Finally met an Advocate I get along with and he is switched on(Not a box ticker), now its a war but we already have the weapons they will never beat. Lets hope I live to see it all settled and maybe enjoy a bit of it.

Work wise, always easy but then I drove trucks and not small stuff.. Last job, I had the pleasure of driving a grain truck into Bentley, Kewdale, Kwinana, whilst weighing upto 100 tonnes.. My boss catered for me and always made sure I could get to a chiro and had some rest. He even changed my rear tyres and serviced my truck when I was not able to do anything. I miss my work so playing with the stock and keeping busy is all I can do, cant stop, havent found the off switch...

So anyone looking for work, best of luck and hope you can look to the south west of WA, the seasonal work is coming up soon...

He had been out of work for some time and always had trouble answering the questions to fill in the application forms. Seems someone had helped him fill in the application forms which had made the difference.

No real offence taken and no need to apologize buddy. Its just not as easy as some people make out. Look I have never been without work long, but as I get older find it much more difficult. Jobs that I would have been interviewed for every time 10 years ago are getting less and maybe now less than 40% of what it was 10 years ago, age definitely applies.

Have really considered relocating but just cant bring myself to screw the kids education yet again.

Actually, speaking of fruit picking, did anyone see the farmer/ backpacker labour hire guy who basically dobbed himself in when he complained that they won't get any pickers as at the moment their paid on average $57/day:eek: or about $285 for a 5 day week.
So that's about $6/hour , yup that will get the unemployed streaming through the doors lined up for such huge dollars!

That would be illegal. They either need to be paid minimum wage or a piecework rate which is 15% higher than minimum wage for the average trained worker.

Of course, it's not just fruitpicking.
