I look at the fishing companies and see we are 1 of the last fisheries that are still employing majority australian workforce. Most of the other fisheries are going all Indonesian crew.
As for the backpackers spending most of the money yes and no - think the Darwin council is owed about $1 million from all the fines not paid by backpackers camping in any park or reserve they like , where as the grey nomads are left to pay the price of the van parks because they are able to be traced to a residence in Australia.
I don't know what it's like elsewhere but from what I see up here, they should be made to contribute like everyone else who uses the infrastructure in the country - fair enough give them back the super but tax is tax. Most have quickly worked out that if they go to a hospital in this country they don't get turned away or asked to pay like elsewhere.
Just my view on things as I see it.
