It's a garden orb weaver I think
Eriophora transmarina (Keyserling, 1865) Garden Orb Weaver)

Can anyone ID this spider? I almost walked into him as he's spun his web about 200 mil off of my back door. I've left him alone, as I kind of like spiders... I've done a search but nothing conclusive.
Thanks in advance!

I think it's just one of the orb weaver family.....we get them up here same shape but with gold stripes.
Great to sit and watch at night.
Has to be better than the rubbish on TV!
Cheers guys! Yeah that's the way we were leaning with the Orbs, but couldn't quite find one that looked like it.
Lucky one of these spiders wasn't hung by your back door... It would have knocked you out!!!![]()

We call them "Night Spiders" as well.
We had one for years called Nancy & we could hand feed her. (All the big ones are female)
