    Was also a senator for a long time...He is one of the "Last Great Americans".. Someone I have always looked up to all of my life.

    I agree - a man to admire and to look up too - he also went back into space in the late 90s and is the oldest man to have gone up.

    A great man.
    How old was he went He went up last time?..77 I think it was, had to prove his fitness, go through all the pre-flight training etc, and he pulled his weight during the flight too.

    Yeah, he was also the oldest of the original Mercury astronauts, I think he was 41 when he first orbited the Earth. RIP John.
