Bloody Hell!
"
Post War, when I was at the Thebarton Tech School we "played" on one of those.
Bare Chassis with the wheels still in place. Engine & other stuff were removed & taken inside.
There was a Commonwealth Trade Training School on the grounds where RAAF folk were trained & who arrived by Tram from wherever they were billeted & marched down the street with drums playing etc.
I guess it was a leftover training piece.
My old Dad was also a WO2 MV Instructor so I still have Ford Workshop Manuals for that Blitz Range of trucks that I discovered after he passed away.
FORD did a nice basic chassis & trans for a Forward Control Armoured Car as it happens, as well as all other configurations like the one in that ad.
I have a copy of a true story of WW2 REME Craftsman that was instructed to go down to some African Country to swap the vehicle over & to pick up a Workshop Truck suitable for his Optical Trade. Gun sights etc.
He was in the same REME unit as my F in L in Mogadishu. Anyway, it apparently was quite hair raising with Bandits, Lions, wash aways etc he met along the dirt track. All he had was his SMLE .303 & a few rounds & all by himself. We regularly rcd Xmas Cards from him until recently so maybe he has kicked the bucket, after all it was in 1945 in East Africa
Just sayin'.
Sorry what was the question?
