They have changed many times. On my first visit to Copenhagen I was taken by the statue of the city's founder, Bishop Absalom, in front of the town hall.

King Harald Bluetooth bashed Bishop Poppo to death with the heavy gold and silver crucifix that Harald presented to the Bishop on Harald's conversion to Christianity. Perhaps Absalom had taken notice and was wearing personal protective equipment.
