David, the Poms use impetric, a curious mixture of cubits and light years.
Height clearance is officially measured in feet and inches, but most bridges are also signed in metric, rounded up to one decimal place. Not very handy for the many continental drivers.

I Must have gone to Spec-savers. Didn't notice the Tractor under the bridge in the gloom. Nor the mess of Sprayer on the hillside. Soz.
