    Concrete

Yesterday was the big day - the concrete pour. I was already at work - but a mate was around to take these pictures...

The guys turned up at 7:30am - and left just after 4pm.

I don't know the correct terminology - but they initially poured the concrete, used big trowles to smooth it out, then used big plastic levels to smooth it out even more and finally a machine (I call it the helicopter) to smooth it all out. My mate said that the actual pour only took about 2 hours - but they spent the next 5+ hours finishing it off..

Looks great mate - so when do the shed installers turn up? Looks like I should start putting all those bits and pieces together I found...

Hoist can go up in about 4 weeks...

Oh, and can you please measure the length of the conduit run between the house and the shed so I can organise the cable for that too. . (hope the conduit is big enough - what size is it.)

One of the most satisfying job is to run the "helicopter", or power trowel over a slowly drying slab steadily getting a better and better finish.

Oh and when I laid the slab in my current workshop I drilled all the fixing holes for the old hoist when the slab was barely 1 day old, so the drill went in like into firm soil. 20 years later when the new hoist went in the drilling took loads more muscle as the concrete had cured to full strength long ago.

Looking very good. A far cry from my shed - done one small section at a time, using a one barrow mixer, and sand and gravel out of the creek! With me providing 100% of the labour.

That's a good idea - GG, any chance you can get the hoist model number and see if we can find its dimensions on line so we can drill the holes sooner rather than later?

Agreed, there will be buggar all difference between drilling day old concrete and something that is a couple of weeks old and if you are paying for the install anyway.
