Hey Slunnie, I'm not a luddite. I got a new iPhone the other day and it tells me my 'car'(The Rover), is at work, 60m away. (It's in the shed)
Now where would I be without that valuable information. It'll even provide me with a map so I can get there without losing my way. I'm connected!!
    Don.

I've got a smart phone and apparently we have bluetooth in the Defender's and never the two shall be connected.

We even updated our maps in December. We bought a brand new Streetsmart Road directory. Unfortunately like a smart phone without reception its useless. Its in the 90 residing at the dealers for the last 2 1/2 weeks.

What is this stuff about cars being "connected" ... I'm confused. Until I got my ****ty old Range Rover classic the most modern car I'd owned was a 1985 Citroen CX GTi Turbo .... As always, I'm just pleased if it just starts and drives for me .... The same deal works for the POS '92 Range Rover ... if it starts and drives for me ... and the drivers window will go up and down ... I'm a happy man What more could you want ? Especially when I'm crawling through the bush in low range with the center diff lock in as a part of my morning school run.

I'm not a luddite, well, maybe a little bit?
I have no problem with techno advances, auto wiper, auto lights, air bags, DSC, HID, all very good advancements to name just a few.
I just find that basing most of, or the complete advertising of a car around it's "Connectivity" or other useless tricks is Naf!
To me it's a car, there are a lot more important things I care about than if my smart phone will talk to it.

I'm not about to buy a new car but I like keeping up & reading about them, being advertised to that a car is the best connected would not lead me to bother to investigate a car further.

well anyway....I stand corrected about the law....gasp!

I will never get pinged for using my phone while driving....I can't even operate it sitting in a chair at home!

I have never grasped mobile phones.
