Must be just you because I can do without the radio.
Maybe it's just me, but I have noticed that a lot, if not all, car adverts these days seem to think that the most important thing about a car is how "Connected" it is?
Seems you have to be able to talk to your car? Some women with an odd Indian sounding name has to talk back? Apparently drums play? Jeeeze, even LR think you are so useless you can't arrange your seats without your phone.
Obviously I have my priorities all wrong.
Acceleration, handling, comfort, off road ability, practicality etc, seem to not count at all?
If the car has a stereo, plays CD's & a radio that can find the ABC I'm as connected as I want to be while driving.
Rant over,
back to my cave.

Haha,, same. I had to spend all that money on a top notch unit, to never use it.
Leeannes car is so connected, Ford Kuga (top spec thingy), when she's about to leave for somewhere, it sends a msg on her phone telling her how long a drive she's got,,, generally to work and back.
I got a similar msg on mine once, got no idea why, how,, but as I was about to walk out the door, my phone went off (??)
Agree 100%. The worst bit is that these new cars rely on your smart phone to do everything - not many even include Sat Nav in their vehicles now - it's all 'car play' or some such thing where it uses your phone to navigate with. Forget your phone, no Navigation and a lot of other things.
It save the manufacturers a fortune and then they sell it to you like it's a 'must have'
This is one reason we bought SWMBO new car when we did late last year as the rep said that the new model would loose Sat Nav, heated and cooled seats and a couple of other things but have enhanced smart phone features....
**** that.... He agreed, but said he would have to learn how to sell that when it happened.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
Would I be wrong in thinking that, in the event of needing a Roadworthy Certificate or similar for reselling the vehicle, all these little, magic fadunkers have to be working?

surveys say, the people that watch tv ads, want smartphone connection.
the people who care about Acceleration, handling, comfort, off road ability, practicality etc etc, dont watch tv.

What type of "Acceleration" are we referring to here? I mean, this is a Land Rover forum!

All this connected stuff is the preparation for the day when big daddy will be watching you & managing you remotely by way of fines & infringement notices. Your car will also stop when not serviced by an authorised stealer. Advertisers will be able to better target their junk mail based on where you have been & how you drive.
Why don't they jam mobile phones when the phones are in a moving car?
