Hmmm I think you might be onto something there Simon.
Hipsters are into go fund me AND they're into defenders (for the moment) I might just stick my hand up for some cash, ditch the Ford motor, tranny & gbox and bolt in something from GE. I've already got 3 yellow tops and a solar panel, I mean, how hard can it be?
The benefits are coming to mind thick & fast: backlash would be a thing of the past with those nice smooth electric motors, the pocksier than Lucas Ford electrics would all go, no more turbo, cat converter, heat transfer and intercooler hose issues either.
Creek crossings should be pretty sweet too, shouldn't they? I mean they make electric submarines don't they...........

Electric Defenders have already been built, mostly to test the technology. Type in "electric defender" into google for a long list of articles!

I've ridden a 250 Freeride and the suspension and brakes weren't up to scratch, as the electric version has the same running gear I think it will be crap also.
Most of the guys and girls I know who bought Freerides have moved them on.

Every servo will have them, it's already starting to happen overseas.
