My last black car i found i washed it more (twice a month as apposed to once), but when i did, geeeez it looked good! 😊
Black would not be my first choice for a vehicle that will be used offroad and not parked under cover, looking for personal experiences as i have found a black D3 that is otherwise excellent.

I had no issues with my black Commodore.
Black is a very urban hue. Looks great at night in suburbia. Scratches are very noticeable on dark colours in the bright daylight.
If it's your bush baby, it's gonna get scratched. Live with it. Otherwise, don't take it off the bitumen and avoid car parks.
I ordered an Aintree Green 130 with a black roof and despite all my fears of the sky falling and my family being baked alive in summer its no hotter than any other vehicle that I can detect. The dark green does show bush pinstripes worse than the Atacama sand D3 I had (that barely showed any scratches) but after 18 months use a polish with a good quality car polish fixes the marks.

With quality polish and paint protection applied I don't see any difference to any other paint. You'll want to apply 2-3 coats of Zaino CS after a polish. Home
I also chuck Shield n Peel on for touring(3 coats or a quarter of a tub will set you back $40) or for the scrubby coast stuff as I don't care what the car looks like once we've left town, only what it looks like when we get back!
Preventing scratches is much easier than trying to buff them out!
The black paint on my old 05 D3 came up like brand new with a polish. I've attached some before and afters of the roof.
once you go black, you never go back

Had a black car...looked awesome when washed...but showed any dirt or dust it accumulated as it was driven. I read somewhere that it is a myth that dark cars heat up inside more than light coloured cars....not sure. I suppose it is probably right....as it would be the glass that lets the majority of heat through.
Wash, wax, polish, sorry you lost me with those terms. I wash my car 2/3 times a year and its dark metallic blue, as much as i like the look i dont know if i will do it any justice.
I pretty much knew what my thoughts would be but it seems black disco's are the cheapest colour, at least 3-4k less than other colours that i have seen.

Worst color in the World to look after, & makes your A/C work twice as hard.
I've only ever owned one black car, it was a s/h vehicle, the most expensive HDT VK Director that Brock ever made, it was Tuxedo Black, but I just had to have it.
I was at Winton Raceway on one occasion, & a friend of mine had a similar white commodore parked in the sun. I said put it in the shade, he said "no worries, feel the paint",..it was cool. Ya could've fried an egg on mine.
Showed up every bit of dust, swirl marks etc etc.
But this is me, I have a friend who has a black Toyota Kluga, it's his work car, it's always IMMACULATE, he washes at least twice a weeK,..loves it!

Haha it doesn't seem you care too much about how it looks if you only wash it 2/3 times a year?
Just use a good shampoo, protect it if you go onto thick scrub (that paint shield stuff looks alright) and it'll look great 2 or 3 times a year!
If you move it on later spend a little to have it professionally detailed and it'll be great - see russrobes pics above for proof!
