I don't. It's so much more value traveling o/s than locally. I know many people who have found it cheaper to travel for two weeks overseas than two weeks in Aus.

Why interesting?? There is a whole lot more to see than just Australia.

I've travelled quite a bit of Australia, no harm in doing both especially if you have a certain reason for it, visiting relos or tracking down long lost relos, which was my main reason, besides it gives you a greater appreciation for how good we have it here.
    Cheers Baz.

Is it just Germany or could you do neighbouring countries like Austria or Switzerland and maybe Italy or France ? The alps, and even historical places are very interesting.
We did a 6 week UK/Euro trip a couple of years back. It included Switzerland so my wife could check out where she was born (and visit rellies - that wouldn't have happened had her brother not told the rellies we were going). Our trip was based on what I wanted to see, e.g., bridges, ships, trains, planes, etc.

The Paris bit was for me to see the Eiffel Tower and Cugnot's Steam Car built in 1769 - the first motor vehicle). My wife is not that interested in what I want to see and vice versa.

I did think of the BMW museum as a possibility. My wife has seen the Spanish horses and Vienna in Austria on a previous trip she did without me.

She's booked her first class tickets. If I change my mind, I'll have to go cattle class at the back of the plane.

To be honest, I think we both prefer separate holidays. I'll look at going (by myself) on an Aussie trip instead. That way I can look at planes, trains, cars, bridges, and buildings without boring her silly.

We do plan to go somewhere (probably Melbourne) next year for our 48th wedding anniversary.

We put up with each other?

It's cheaper to stay together than to divorce?

Well, as I said, my wife has booked her tickets both ways first class using all her and my frequent flyer points (plus some borrowed from her brother). Apparently, the value of the tickets is in the region of $26K!

This is the "First Class Apartment" on the Etihad A380.

Ah, Deutschland. Wein, weib und gesang, wurst, bier, schnapps, frauleiner.

Can't you just picture Ron in lederhosen grasping a massglas of starkbier in one hand and a buxom barmaid in the other and singing 'Im munchen steht ein hofbrauhaus".

    Why?

2 weeks, in Thailand, living the peaceful life, is costing us less than 50% of the cost of a 7 day trip to Sydney/Melb/Gold Coast etc....
