I like Tawney Frogmouths. They are the quintessential aussie bird IMHO.

Pic stolen/ borrowed from Gromits posts...thanks Colin.

I have too many favourites but the White Bellied Sea Eagle is a magnificent and beautiful bird I love to see along the coastal rivers and estuaries.

One of my favourite Australian birds is the little Male Blue Wren (Malurus cyaneus) a lively little bird and the breeding male is a colourful sight with his bright blue breast and head, as he darts through the bushes wagging his tail, with his entourage of females and non-breeding males behind him.

    Can I retract my vote?

I think my new vote will be for the Great Tit (Parus Major)

As a social bird, they are often found in pairs.

these are little rippers ! I have a couple of pairs in my garden , they are sooooo tiny ,watching them have a titanic struggle with a dandelion or a moth has my entranced and in stitches .
my dad loves watching birds and then painting them - pictures not the birds , he is intrigued as to how you get all the gibbons into s little fella like this !

Wedgie for sure, and the peregrine falcon.

Wedgie because they are magnificent, and also because we had one as a pet for many years when i was a kid.It was that tame,we could throw a cricket ball for her and she would bring it back.

Peregrine falcon.Hunters in the sky.The way they chase and knock birds, particularly pigeons, out of the sky is amazing.
