Seen on a Bloomberg news feed........

Jaguar Land Rover is moving all production of its Land Rover Discovery SUV to Slovakia from a plant near Birmingham, England, which will be retooled to accommodate a new generation of electric cars.........and it continues.

Sorry, could not copy the link but I am confident that it will surface in Google.

Well, the L462 was not on my shopping list anyway, but I guess it's cheaper labour costs for LR , I hope that the product does not suffer.

It could also be in response to Brexit.

I read in LRO a couple of years ago that LR had bought land in Slovakia to build a plant, so not Brexit.

    What is the reason?
Are British parts of poor quality? If so, what caused the change in quality as those parts were obviously of a suitable quality pre-brexit?
Or is it a form of protectionism?

Mick, Genuine Land Rover parts have been made in other countries for many years, the vehicles are just assembled with the foreign made parts. Germany, China, Israel, Egypt, Solvenia etc etc, you be surprised where they are made when you see the genuine packaging. Don't assume just because its a pommy vehicle that the parts are also made there.

Have a look at the iPace.
Put a New Discovery body on it and you're away.

I had no idea British made parts were made elsewhere.
