I 'phoned friends in Warrnambool to ask how they were coping with the heat. "What heat" was the reply. It got up to 29 and then a cool change came and 'twas 21 late afternoon. I said that the forecast for Melbourne was 42. She replied that it serves people right for living there.

    Thats typical of Adelaide.

Our family holidayed there over xmas for over 15yrs and we always took blankets and winter clothes and needed them.

40C at the moment at Avoca Beach.
Actually had to break out the fans.
Thanks to the stimulus scheme, we have ceiling insulation so only 31 inside the house.

The highest I saw in Melbourne was 48C on the dash of a BMW 735 the day of the dust storm in 1980? which was the day? before the Ash Wednesday fires. (memory not the best on exactitudes from 38 years ago)
