My wife's late grandfather was Belfast born and his family were as Orange as all get out. He reckoned you could tell a man's religion in the North by the whiskey he drank. Protestants drank Bushmills and the paddys drank Jameson was his story.
The only reason is to drink them. You will never taste it if you dont crack the seal and take a swallow.
You can keep the empties on your shelf forever.
I like Jack Daniels and for each Xmas / Birthday / Fathers Day my wonderful family buy me bottles of their special editions...which I drink. There are currently ten bottles on display with a few more to go in their special range.
Yeah mate...drink it , its the only way you're ever going to really enjoy it.
My favorites are Tullamore DEW Original and Macallan 12.
I had the opportunity to taste the Bushmills 12 years, a very tasty whiskey that is only available at the distillery's shop.
I tried a tipple in Taiwan and was shocked how good it was. It was voted the best in the world two years later.
It was Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique. Nicest I have tried. I loved Nants till the boo haa haa. Tassie has several good drops. As does WA. Grabbed a bottle of Limeburners’ Heavily Peated Darkest Winter whisky in Albany, Good stuff and even better after a long drive on the road home.
I used to work with a wee jock who was just a little fond of a dram (or twenty). He maintained that one could add water or soft drink to bad whisky to serve to women and children but the only thing you could add to good whisky was ice cubes on a very hot day in the tropics.
Lucky to have a very nice next door neighbor.
Australian- they sell a lot by the Dozen- must have more cash than me [biggrin] WA has 16 more than Vic or NSW [thumbsupbig] Tassie 116 Wow
