But, of course!

But they are underpowered and need massive runways - the C-17 has a lot more muscle and can use short runways like the C-130. Climb rate is astounding - not sure if most civy passangers would appreciate a climb that steep though, but boy would love to try it...
Have spoken to multiple C-17 Pilots and Load Masters, but still haven’t convinced any to give me a lift... Will try again this year - working at the Airshow has its advantages - I get to go see all the planes and chat to the Crew before the public ever get near them.
I start on Feb 4 and will be there for around 5 weeks. Can’t wait - best event on the calendar. 👍
But the antanov you can transport your smaller plane above. Always bigger engines if you got the bucks. Besides not as commonplace
Couldn't agree more..
Got to go on a flight in a C-17 when considering a remuster to Loady back in 2012. As impressive as it is, both in size and technology, it was a bit dull.
The only way I could describe it is if you went from a s2a (C-130 or Carabu) to a RRV(c-17). You can do the exact same thing in both, but the C-130 was way more fun and dangerous.. also more prone to vomit and becoming deaf.
The coolest thing about a C-17 is it can reverse!
Says those that have had the chance.... Still miles better than a commercial flight I should think. Nothing is that great when it’s you job - I get that... 😉
And no commercial flights do this sort of thing...

Back in 1970, when my wife and I went on our honeymoon, we flew from Mebourne to Tassie n a Lockheed Electra. The rear seats were set along the fuselage sides, inward facing, so one looked at the pax on the opposite side.
I remember the old bloke opposite us who was sweating profusely, wiping his brow with the dirtiest of hankies.

Well you could join the ADF for a start.[biggrin]
C-17’s and C-130’s fly over my place quite frequently, often so low you can check the tyre pressure. The C-130’s often in close formation. Quite impressive sometimes. We are only 11kms from RAAF Richmond.
