I have always wondered why people ring Friday arvo, around 5.30 and say their cold room is warm.
And they also mention it hasn't worked well all day,and yesterday it was also a bit warm

Then complain when you mention overtime rates.....

An age old problem that one Paul. It's as though with the weekend coming up their 'er indoors tells them to get off their lazy arse & get it fixed or no nooky on the weekend. Well, you get my drift. That makes them shift.

Probably the same astrol laws that make tip trucks only break down on wet days, then the owners expect the workshop to drop everything else to fix them.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

A machine shop I once worked in had a sign at the door.
"Lack of planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on mine"

But it is a cruel world sometimes for this sort of thing. More than once ive fronted up to business with a Friday 1655 problem.
Usually prefaced with "I know its Friday, I know your closing, any thoughts or suggestions on (X) ?"

I often wonder why some of the most memorable moments are unplanned.

One Christmas eve many years ago we headed to the Blue Mountains from Dubbo for the family Christmas.
Around 830 in the evening just on the edge of Molong township, the elec ignition gave up and we were now stuck with 3 restless kids on a warm summer night.
Roadside assist declared the distributor dead (Toyota too I might add)
So a few phone calls later and my folks left their place to come get us with an extra car and were due in Molong around 1 am Christmas day.
The local pub was packed and in full swing for the evening celebrations. The Publican new our situation and happily sorted a room for us.
The local Chinese restaurant stayed open and cooked especially for us, when they could have closed up and gone home to be with their family.

My folks arrived just after midnight and we packed up the kids and were ready to head off when a brief commotion took my attention.
One of the patrons who had indulged was being helped onto his horse, which had been waiting patiently throughout the evening.
Once mounted, the rider slumped over in the saddle asleep and the horse slowly walked away.
The Publican smiled at me and said dont worry ( I cant remember the horse or the riders name) the horse knows the way.

Breaking down on Christmas eve sounds like a nightmare for many but that night still makes all of us smile and reminds me of how generous and accommodating people can be.
Oh and you dont need an Uber when you have a horse.

Probably a little off topic but I am getting older.

I don't think you can go off topic on this thread.

I've always wondered why, in any group of students, there is always one who, immediately after you have finished explaining what to do next, will immediately pop up and ask, 'Sir, what are we doing?'

Thats because that particular student needs their ears cleaned out.

Yep Courtesy mostly pays & most people will assist if you genuinely have an emergency, but they will know if you are taking the mick or you front up with ,"Listen here knackers I want this fixed/done etc as soon as possible, I'm in a hurry. got it?"
