Not sure if the house 300m back will be safe. 300,000,000 people may need/will to move to higher ground might like your place as well.

    Is sea level rising?

i didnt say anything about increase rainfall.

just that the areas underwater wont be in drought as drought only applies to land and not sea.

One needs to plan ahead a tad & use Saline Tolerant plants in one's front garden. & Probably elsewhere.

They will also need to be a strong bodied plant as the Ocean Rollers & Surf may knock the crap out of them.

What is the latest gardener wearing? No, not a Barbour Jacket, but a Personal Flotation Device thing for when one goes weeding the garden & raking up the leaves.

That shouldn't be a problem. Most houses these days have a back & front verandah & possibly a timbered deck barbecue area. Plenty of room.

most severe drought in all of human history is known to be Antarctica!

drought is a state of mind .. we've place our mindsets, our values on what is a drought.

Could well be that all other areas that receive X amount of rainfall per year are all in flood!
So the real issue isn't drought or not .. it's a matter of our perceived notion of what is a drought.

Had the 'agri-tycoons' any semblance of a conscience, and instead of making a quick buck, had in mind the availability of the local resources as the primary concern for how to sustain their business models .. there would literally be no issue(with water resources).

ie. I have a business idea that requires the use of lots of dry/sandy environments and resources .. I'm not going to start this business out in the open ocean, or frozen wastes of the northern latitudes(Canada/Norway) .. stupidity.
So why initiate a business idea that requires specific resources where those resources are few and far between?

ps. as with Tombie, I'm only banking on a 50m sea level rise .. I personally don't like water myself, and 10m is close enough for me(I'm at 60m), I'll sell and move to the arid centre

    Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed?

You'll be lucky. By then they may get the much needed rain & the Inland could become the Southern Central Ocean. Psst, wanna buy an Ark?

You guys break me up. What makes you think you'll be kickin' sand then? Better still, why not put your LRs up on bricks?

The water will rise in rivers in the Gulf and spread out, moving southwards, re-creating the inland sea which can be seen on maps if you Google it. Waterfront land will be in the inland.

Maybe north central QLD, but not central Aus in general. Too much >100m barrier for that water to push back into central Aus.

Maybe you meant the Spencer Gulf area?
If so, then for sure lots of Central Aus will .

Read some interesting articles recently that point to climate science to date getting it all wrong and a big rethink needed.

One was about greenhouse gases having bugger all to do with climate change and melting ice caps - its all more likely due to sub surface lava/mantle plumes heating and melting from below.

A second was regarding latest findings from the oldest (deepest) ice cores giving more detail of past atmospheric conditions further back in time than was available before.

Waiting on hearing as more developments and new think based on more/later evidence shapes scientific thinking on climate situation.
