The city has never recorded more than two 40C days in December, but that record will be challenged this week."

I think the point they are making is that it is happening earlier than usual.
Not really, Some years you get a hot December some years you don't, there is Nothing "Unusual" about this summer.
Jan/Feb are usually the worst months for hot days and I don't expect anything different this year But the climate change mob will cry doom and gloom anyway.

Perth has not endured a heatwave in almost four years, but that could be about to change

So they don't get a heatwave for four years, and somehow this is brushed under the carpet, so that when they do get one .. it's armageddon!

THATS! .. how you sell ad space

Lets gloss over the fact that they haven't had one for four years .. this isn't sensationalist enough.

So global warming is producing heatwaves .. and at the same time isn't!

if that's 'logical science' ... they're beyond help.

Here is an interesting read of what may actually be going on in the world of a warming globe!

Interesting read to anyone that understands the bottom line of it .. and you don't need much education to do so either.

What I found interesting, mentioned in one of my earlier posts .. the WMO(world met org) scratched the world record hottest ever temperature recorded .. something like 56.7°C, back in the 1930's in Libya ... removed from the record in 2012 for a data point recorded in the 1930's .. nearly 90 years later!! .. Reasoning was that it was considered 'inaccurate'. By whom, how, and by what exact process. 90 year after the fact? Why did it take so long to discover this supposed inaccuracy?
Smells wayyy too fishy, in this enviro-nazi, politically correct era .. so it didn't correlate with the current notion that the world is supposed to be getting hotter, yet for some reason these records don't seem to get surpassed.
Remove the offending record .... message sent! .. the world is getting warmer once this new standard of record setting is tweaked to suit their needs!

And so with the above link ...

From 1910 to 1963, ACORN 2 reduces the number of 37.8C+ days in ACORN 1 by 12.5% and reduces the number of 37.8C+ days in RAW by 19.9%. From 1964 to 2017, ACORN 2 reduces the number of 37.8C+ days in ACORN 1 by 5.8% and reduces the number of 37.8C+ days in RAW by 4.0% The averaged temperature of days at 37.8C or more didn't change in ACORN 1, increased 0.1C in ACORN 2 and increased 0.2C in RAW (download all 57 stations Excel).
When you rejig data to suit your needs(ie. political/enviro message) .. then of course the world is getting warmer .. just make it cooler in previous years with data massaging!

So there are multiple ways to create the notion of global warming.
The two prominent ones are .. sensationalist garbage science, and modifying historical data to give the illusion that it's warming faster/meaner/fatter/dirtier/happier/smarter/greener .. or whatever angle you want to display it from.

And this is what 'some folks' refer to as science!

we should ban bushfires to prevent this from happening.

You seem keen to assume that people who disagree with you have an agenda.

Your post mentions just one of the possible explanations for the rejection of the temperature recorded on 13th September 1922 in Aziziya, Libya. You assume a conspiracy.

There are several other possible explanations for the rejection.

In our reanalysis, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Commission of Climatology (CCl) evaluation committee identified five major concerns with this extreme record, specifically 1) potentially problematical instrumentation, 2) a probable new and inexperienced observer at the time of observation, 3) the unrepresentative microclimate of the observation site, 4) the poor correspondence of the extreme to other records, and 5) the poor comparison to subsequent temperature values recorded at the site.
    https://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/ful...S-D-12-00093.1

The article explains in detail why those other possible problems have been identified by several researchers.

A failure to acknowledge the other possible reasons for the rejection of the Libya record suggests that you do not have an open mind on the subject.

    Exactly

Last summer, there was hardly a day here over 35 degrees. This year we have had a few days slightly hotter.

Quite a few years ago i remember it being 42degrees on Christmas day.

The difference this year in Brisbane is the unusual lack of rainfall, and low humidity, until the last week or so.

Westerly desert winds caused the dryness.

Many seem to have short memories.

So far this year we have received 561mm of rain. Below par, so far.

In 2014 we received 584 mm total so, we'll wait and see what we end up with for 2019.

About half of bush fires are lit by humans I read, so let's apply the carbon tax to anyone convicted of lighting a bushfire. Climate Change and our Land of Fire, Flood and Drought.

Weather and climate change are different things.
