China has slowed down a lot since their 1 child policy. SE asia has slowed down too. Europe is almost at stand still (the native population is anyway). south america and africa are breeding highly. it's down to our economies needing third world countries to thrive and in turn they needing more children to help out as the mortality rates are higher.

I simply pointed out that our 1.9 persons is radically lower than some places in the Northern hemisphere.

Simply pointing out that the global population isn’t static, nor declining and we aren’t a big player in that.

It certainly isn't "better" for your average Australian that has to share their resources with people that have already ruined their own countries.
IF we keep importing people we WILL eventually run out of basic resources and Australia will eventually end up in the same situation that these people now face in their own native countries.
At the moment Australia is struggling trying to provide the basics like water, accomodation and power for those that live here now and it doesn't take any imagination at all to know exactly what will happen when we start to fail to be able to provide these basics.

Why can't we just let Darwins theory of natural attrition/survival of the fittest do its magic? The World would be a much healthier planet.

If we stopped immigration the economy would lose about 1% growth, according to the statisticians, so how many people would lose their jobs because retail sales had frozen? Think about that.

Increasing our population isn't a "Magic Bullet" for an economy or for a society as a whole it is simply a "Stop Gap" solution that will eventually collapse on itself.
It's a bit like using one credit card to pay another one off, Eventually you will run out of credit cards and you will have to pay the bill/price and for Australia that will be severely depleted or even exhausted natural resources that cannot Ever be replaced.
IF you are Sincere in your belief in global warming/climate change then wouldn't it be "Prudent" to Protect our natural resources instead of handing them out to every Tom, Dick and Harry that want to come to Australia to put a further burden on our already overtaxed resources???

Improving/maintaining an economy will NEVER be beneficial to ANY ecology, On the contrary it can only cause further pollution and degradation.
