Don't have any favourite tracks mate.
Personally I usually keep any off-roading I may do to private property as a rule. This trip was because the property owner wanted to check out the trails behind his place and his own 4wd wasn't cut out for it.

As to treading lightly... you would have a hard time finding anybody more respectful of the bush than I.
I'm the sort of bloke who chucks a fit at someone not picking up a cigarette butt.

Regarding the sense of humour I was referring to the "running out of fuel" comment containing the parenthesis... it was meant as a joke mate. I thought that was obvious... ala 'They're a Wierd Mob'. (An Aussie classic IMO)

So how are you supposed to know if i'm joking or not .
I'm still wondering how you can imply the part in brackets is meant as a joke ?

Dont sweat about the stooges, everybody likes 4WDing for different reasons. Playing is a good reason.
    Cheers mate.
i don't go bush as often as I'd like (grew up in it) and when I do it's usually hiking, not driving. My old Landy has never needed to lock the diffs since I bought her (despite her many times off the black stuff) so it was a good test of both her and my capabilities. We negotiated some pretty severe obstacles and impressed the blokes who came along for the ride. Despite initially scoffing at my 'pommie car' they are all converts now

The slip was a fun challenge which took some thinking through to get out of. No winch, nor second vehicle and a long walk back if we couldn't get her out. The trip was not planned but luckily I had a machete to use as a digging tool (not that it needed much).

Much fun was had by all.

Bloody hell. What is wrong with some people on here? He said he wasn't drinking and it looks like he was having fun on a track he's aloud to be on. What's the big deal? This forum is beginning to feel like it's run by a bunch of old whinging men! Bush bashing funBush bashing fun

dunno why I feel it necessary to defend myself but anyway...

1, as the driver I wasn't drinking so no, my misjudgment of the approach angle for one of the many crossings we went through was not alcohol fuelled. Three inches to the left and we wouldn't have come unstuck and indeed didn't on the second attempt.

2, these are fire trails and are supposed to be kept clear for that purpose. If the Fireys had been doing their job the trail would have been easier to get through. The locals who live bordering this area wouldn't be happy at how thick parts of the trails were (indeed the bloke in the t-shirt lives there and wasn't impressed).

You blokes need to chill out a bit and not take things so seriously. Reading the comments I could easily be deceived into thinking I was on a Yank forum. What happened to the Aussie sense of humour?

I agree with you on the fire trails. No sense having one if the fire truck can't get through. Don't be too harsh on the members, they don't have young people on here very often. The only criticism I might make is I would recommend at least two vehicles , just in case. A long walk to the doctor.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
