They'll be busy thinking up the next one......

My fund sends me nice reports about it going up which includes a LOT of what I contributed masking what it is making[biggrin]
Hint- 7 to 10% over 10 years should almost double the funds over 10 years!
The tax office put a interesting 8 year comparison tool. Mine did very well which was not trivial when others in the family found theirs was not nearly as good[biggrin]
How yours did or did not do may or may not be trivial.
YourSuper Comparison Tool | Australian Taxation Office
They do have a logged on version - It is NOT showing the up to date current balance. (Australian Super) Gave me a bit of a heart starter which was trivial once I realized the ATO has data a year or so out of date! [biggrin]
Better than mine which sends yearly statements to say they are going backwards and expect to continue to do so for the next few years. No mention of reducing fees to match performance of course
I don't have to worry about mine anymore.................
because after a lot of mucking around I got it to pay out when it matured in May. [thumbsupbig]
A few things of note..........
As a self employed person I took out this endowment policy some 43 years ago.
I wasn't told at the time that the agent got all my first year's contributions and an ongoing 20% after that............... there was no legal requirement to inform me at the time.
Even with these 'constraints' (and not paying the premium for the last 10 years) it was a very worthwhile exercise and could have been very lucrative if I'd been more disciplined financially in my younger years.
Things have even changed for the better in the last few years I believe. [biggrin]
cheers, DL
44 billion to Zero?
Valuing twitter is tricky of course. Not many would claim the fame for turning a money loosing business for tricky at best to being a basket case [biggrin]
Twitter owner Elon Musk said Saturday that the social media platform he bought for $44 billion last October has lost roughly half of its advertising revenue.
"We're still negative cash flow, due to ~50% drop in advertising revenue plus heavy debt load," the billionaire said in a post, responding to a user who was giving suggestions on financing for the platform.
"Need to reach positive cash flow before we have the luxury of anything else," he added, without further elaboration.
Insider Intelligence has reported that Twitter was set to earn less than $3 billion in 2023, down one-third from 2022.
Changes instituted by Musk since his takeover of Twitter have turned off users and advertisers alike.
To be fair Des, as someone who has many years experience as a volunteer emergency worker, the best place for any politician, during an operation it well out of the way. Overseas is ideal, rather than getting in the way whilst trying to garner the accolades due to the feet on the ground mob.
