Russia's Luna 25, India's Chandrayaan-3 set to land on moon this week

A Indian and a Russian lander (Moon) were not in a race!!

The Indian was scheduled for a bit later. They will win now perhaps as "Russia's Luna-25 spacecraft crashes into Moon in uncontrolled orbit

    "

"Chandrayaan 3 Moon landing LIVE telecast will take place through multiple channels, ISRO said on Sunday. The Chandrayaan 3 landing live coverage will be available on ISRO's official Youtube channel. Chandrayaan 3 Moon landing live telecast will also take place on ISRO's Facebook page, and DD National TV channel. Chandrayaan 3 landing LIVE telecast will also be shown on the Times Now TV channel as well as the Times Now YouTube channel. Chandrayaan 3 Moon landing LIVE updates will also be available on timesnownews.com on Wednesday, August 23."

Hope the Chandrayaan-3 comes down as planned unlike the Luna-25

    Welcome to Spring!

    When does spring start?

In Australia, it starts on September 1.
That’s because we follow the meteorological seasonal system, which means the seasons change on the first of September, March, June and December.
These guides make it easier for metrologists and climatologists to compare seasonal statistics.
But this isn’t the only way seasons are organised.
Some Indigenous Australian communities observe as many as six seasons in 12 months.
A lot of countries, like the UK and US, follow the astronomical season convention, meaning their seasons start between the 20th and 23rd of September, March, June and December.
In Sweden, temperature determines when the seasons switch.

ABC cut and paste from 26 August.

    Loved the Swedish.

    Me too.
Reminds me of the time we were at an Adelaide Restaurant.

At a nearby table was sat a middle aged bloke bit looking a bit lost. Staff tried to communicate with him without much luck, so in the end they left him alone.

'er indoors wondered whether he was crew member from a visiting ship at Port Adelaide so looked at him & uttered just one word.......... SVENSKA?

Blimey, you should have seen the bloke come to life! He had found a new friend. As he unloaded all his vocabulary to us 'er indoors was quite startled so I said , "So what are you planning on doing for an encore now?" as the one Swedish word she knew then she had used up.

.. I don't recall what happened next as somehow we asked him in very broken English to join us & he did.
In my working life I had reason to visit a Swedish Ship at Outer Harbour as the company I worked for were taking on the servicing of Clipon Refrigeration Container Units in Adelaide & in time were were invited by the Swedish Chief Engineer to visit socially when MV Woollahra (?) a Swedish Ship (now scrapped) was in Adelaide. She was Part Container Ship & Part General Cargo, out of Gothenburg.

    Just recalled.
An odd thing happened when the Chief & the Ship's Electrician were inspecting the initial Unit on the wharfs' & after a few minutes I thought the "Sparkie's" face was familiar, so I mentioned this to him, him being an Australian. Bugger me dead!!!! He was good friend of my Uncle Bob & I had helped him with wiring when he wired Unc's new house years before. He gave up the Seagoing life & lived in Queensland later.

Later when Noel retired, I received an offer from the Shipping line to replace him which I had to decline as my then Boss thought I might get a taste for the Briny & never return.

My Trade Training hadn't covered Marine Electrical ( Did it ever?) so it was a mutual decision. I was told later that the young bloke who did, actually took on the job & at that time stayed with it.

    Sorry,what was the question?

I was drowning (NOT for the only time) deep down under water in Indonesia. A very kind person took pity and took my money and fed me the best meal I could of hoped for plus chatted in to me for the entire time I ate it!

Loved her very much. I did meet her kids, grand kids and a great grand child as well. Some of the crazy is the best bits of our lives mate.

Yep & I find the "Coincidences"as we blunder though life, one of the most interesting aspects.
Indoors tells me I am not one of life's best observers but memories/recognition like these often crop up much to her surprise. One day it will be an olde flame & then there will be some hard questions & very quick explanations to think up on the run.
Comments from said Flame like, "Meet your son/daughter/twins etc Mr bee. I hope not altogether." will not help the situation.

    BTW On Indonesia.
I trust you didn't come across a drowned Lockheed Hudson Bomber in your dives, S/N A16-67 Another Unc (RAAF WAG) & brother of Bob, shot down & reported as "on Fire" over the Celebes Sea a week after War was declared. Just asking hoping for another coincidence, as you do.
No trace ever found. For years the family hoped beyond hope that he was still alive in the Jungle as they did back then. But at War's end it was confirmed that he must have been KIA.

In KL a few weeks ago with all my crew of 15 and 16 year old sailors. Several are the hard assed Diver types

Our diving yarns covered a LOT of war ships, planes and more at rest Des. I looked but did not touch myself. A bar in Malaysia somewhere has an array of bit which are seriously worth a look at.

I think I mentioned it before- The Navy Museum on Garden Island in Sydney has some of the most extraordinary bits I have ever seen. It is well worth a visit if you can get to it. Link for those interested History | Royal Australian Navy

Its hot- its cold- Yep changes again

Polar air mass to bring cold, windy and wild weather to south-eastern Australia this week link

Spring is infamous for wild fluctuations in weather and this week is serving up a classic battle of the seasons with thunderstorms, gales, dust storms and snow all forecast for the coming days.

Hottestest August ever only hotter world month ever July this year.

The Ying and Yang weather makes me wonder if we get the HOTTEST oz summer or a Polar vortex freeze

The BIG swing covers What IF a bit maybe could be or NOT

    I predict unpredictable
