In my view, one of the key features of the Australian political system, that makes it superior to nearly all others, is that voting is compulsory, and elections are run by an independent body. This makes the sort of election rigging that is done by making it hard to vote almost impossible, where the USA and many other countries have made this into an art.
Worth remembering that the secret ballot used to be known as the Australian ballot, as this is where it was first used for parliamentary elections.
