You never know who you might meet at a polling station, the last time I voted I met a draftsman that worked in our drawing office years ago.

I didn't see anyone get in a huff when I voted early, although I nearly did about the parking or lack thereof, but the D3 is so nice and square and easy to reverse even around corners, that I managed to back up dozens of metres to get into a space that I'd at first thought too difficult.

At least they try and make it easier to actually attend the voting station

Here in the UK they do the voting mid week when most are at work. Then you can only vote at the one polling station they nominate for you . This is usually close to your registered address

Then complain too many people do not vote. Incompetence or design?

All parties then claim the results would have been different if more of their supporters had turned out on the day

In my view, one of the key features of the Australian political system, that makes it superior to nearly all others, is that voting is compulsory, and elections are run by an independent body. This makes the sort of election rigging that is done by making it hard to vote almost impossible, where the USA and many other countries have made this into an art.

Worth remembering that the secret ballot used to be known as the Australian ballot, as this is where it was first used for parliamentary elections.

Even the Postal Vote is no longer private. Now they require your signature that can connect with another Compulsory Box that connects to your choice at the touch of a key or two & possibly altered.

Can you provide some evidence of this very vague accusation?

Hi,
I've done only a few postal votes, but the first envelope is used to check that Jo Bloggs has submitted a vote and the second sealed envelope containing the vote is then put in the ballot box along with hundreds of others then that's secret enough for me.

While I agree with most of that, the fact that the AEC ( in their own words) stated that while placing a Tick in the box on the ballot paper would be seen as a valid vote cast, placing a Cross in that same box would not is possibly a good reason to question their independence.
