In and of itself a rate rise is inflationary. Rate rises are used to combat inflation by curbing consumer spending. A first year economics student should be able to see that the current inflation has nothing whatsoever to do with consumer spending, but is created by various inept policy making both here and overseas. Lower income families aren't 'spending", as they are struggling to provide basic necessities. The biggest inflationary drivers are the massive cost rises of basic energy, to run their homes and get from a to b. Already the charities and food banks are feeling enormous strain. Utility companies and lending institutions are being inundated with requests for financial hardship relief. Another rate rise would be disastrous for the "battlers" who were promised lower cost of living and $275 lower electricity costs at the last election.
Not saying anymore or it's off to CA.
