Running Event Participation in Australia Leading the Pack

    Key trivia
Global event participation is experiencing a decline with participation having decreased by 13% since 2016, where it peaked at 9.1 million runners. Growth however continues in Asia
Runners have never been slower, particularly male runners. In1986 the average finish time was 3:52:35, whereas today it's 4:32:49 ? a slowdown of 40 minutes and 14 seconds
Runners, on average, have never been older aging from an average of 35.2 years in 1986 to 39.3 years in 2018
On average, Spain has the fastest recreational runners over the marathon distance, whilst Russia tops the half marathon, Switzerland heads the 10km distance and Ukraine the 5km
For the first time in history, there are more female than male runners. In 2018, 50.24% of runners were female
Traveling to race has never been more popular
The motives for participating in running appear to be changing from being achievement-focused to being phycological, health and socially focused

The average time for Australians completing a marathon is generally around 4 hours and 32 minutes to 4 hours and 56 minutes.

On percentage and not running- Apparently Women in Hong Kong have a life expectancy of 88+ now. Men there are 82.8. Aussies are (WHO DATA) just under that with 84.9 and 81.3 for men.

ONE stat that sticks out all over the place is what causes most end-of-life bits for men "Ischaemic heart disease" and showed women with Alzheimer disease and other dementias as the Leading causes of death, Australia

This black duck was most interested in the " Healthy life expectancy (HALE) at birth " A SUPER trivia question of course

    Mere male?

I recall reading Mere Male yarns in a magazine found in many dental and doctors rooms as a kid.

Usually very very funny. This yarn might qualify

The wedding crasher mystery solved after four years

Michelle and John Wylie had a blissful November wedding four years ago at a boutique hotel on the South Ayrshire coast, surrounded by friends, loved ones – and one complete stranger.
The couple noticed the mystery wedding crasher only when they received photos of their big day – a tall man in a dark suit, with a noticeable look of puzzlement on his face.
They quizzed relatives, friends and staff at the venue, even asking the wedding photographer about the guest. No-one could provide any answers.
But now, after an internet sleuth joined the search, the mystery man has finally been identified.
Andrew Hillhouse, who was supposed to be a guest at another wedding two miles away, told BBC Scotland News he only realised he was at the wrong venue when the bride walked down the aisle

That magazine was New Idea, the only other bit worth reading was "What the Kids are Saying."
    So I'm told.

    Full self-driving Aussie style

    "Rules differ across Australia

Road rules are governed by individual states and territories.
South Australia, New South Wales, the ACT and Tasmaniasaid they hadallowed the introduction of the technology, provided the driver — who remains legally responsible for the car — maintains supervision and control.
A spokesperson for Western Australia's Transport Department said drivers were required to keep both hands on the steering wheel when using FSD, while Queensland's transport department requires only one.
A spokesperson for the Northern Territory's department said that under NT road rules, drivers must maintain proper control of their vehicle at all times."

I think Proper Control should be the go for self Driving and every other driver! Some cars driven - a few seem IN-PROPER control

We have national rules with nine different interpretations.
When national rules and penalties were introduced, the only standardisation was all fines were increased to match the highest of the various states or territories.
