I can recall when the only cars available were all "Fluid Drive" [bighmmm] no if or buts, that is what you got & the same with Air Cond. Anything else was a "Special Order" & cost a motza more when it used to be the standard.

I have no idea how many purchasers told the Dealers "I don't want air cond. or the Radio Please take them out"

Nowadays, I couldn't be with out either not to mention a whole host of other crap. I can even tell how many Satellites my GPS can see (who'd have thought of that one back in the Sixties?) Usually it is seven but why I really need to know that is beyond me.

My parents bought an ex demo VH valliant and asked the dealer to remove the radio because "why would you want to pay for a radio in a car" We also had a HK holden ute which did not have a heater fitted, Dad had to get one of those suction cup heaters fitted because he couldn't see out on the way to work on a frosty Blayney morning.

Not saying its the POMs fault but I have to chuckle at the video share and the possible information/reason


It has been speculated that the crash might have been caused by an engine cover being mistakenly left on the jet.


There is also now likely to be another investigation into how this sensitive video was released online.

The Official Secrets Act is not the same as it used to be before tweeter Mbook and co [biggrin]

That Pilot had/has remarkable reflexes to recognise the problem & react so quickly. "Will I? won't I? Will they dock my pay for the next 1000 years. Oh ****it." BANG. (sound of Ejector seat being fired)


He/she was taking off so QE 3 would have normally been"steaming" into the wind ,unless they can do it without the Ship's speed being involved these days. None the less, it would have been bearing down on him/her. I reckon when he/she looked over their shoulder they would have **** their breeks. Better them than me gunga din.



I bet one couldn't even get within coo-ee of the crash site for RN warships but I reckon the Russkis would try even just to score the Mascot off it's bonnet.

My first car, an FC Holden, had no heater or radio. My 2nd car, an early MGB, was the same. I recall one July day at Thredbo getting amazed looks from people when I was driving it around, wheel chains fitted, with the top down while in short sleeves. 1973. Feel the cold a little more these days.

The bloody OKA is like my D1. Produces absolutely no heat on a cold day but boils my feet on a warm one. Still, I've discovered that the German diesel heater will warm the whole thing in no time. Fat lot of good that is now.

Oddly being in front of a warship coming at me would not be a bother IF I was in wet suit a fins. Dropping in half way back did in my skinny fast destroyers give a massive incentive to swim wide fast as the propellers when well wide of the ships mostly[biggrin]

The pilot would have clearly crapped his/her pants twice in that one. Thank god for the salt water rinse covering that military secret up [biggrin]

Crash stop both Engines order suspected to avoid Chop Chop Chop pilot! It rather tough to swim in that kit the fly boys and girls wear! Trust me its even hard dragging the wet sods out when I had fins on! :)

Speaking of Poms, I am a great admirer of HM Royal Marines & really enjoy their Bands.

Precision marching & instrument drill & performance are outstanding IMHO

The side Drums are a real masterpiece in Drumming. Every action in unison with everyone else.


This is one large composite Band (UK, Dutch & USA) marching down The Mall IN 2014 Featuring HM the Q & HRH Duke of Edinburgh.
I also got wondering if the Drum Major ever got ahead of his/her Band, & arrived at the Assembly Point & found there was no bugger following him/her. Yeah I know, dopey. [bigrolf] I bet it could happen especially on April Fools Day.
