While I was under there before lunch, I saw some rust in the outrigger I poked my finger through...

That might interest the inspector next time around...

Ships side grey! HMAS Vampire Port side Boffor was the only one allowed for the BANG guys to use. I located some rust and under it and was stripping it back to bare metal when the buffer found me and STOPPED me. several layers of paint added to try and hide the rather questionable structural deck the guns sat on top of.

Paint it thickly - very thickly

My paint job did the trick Des. She is still proudly floating at the Sydney maritime museum. We did have to put a screen up so the MEO did not see the patch up job If your ever in Sydney sneak or ask for 3 Charlie Alpha bunk test. Still stuffed if I know how I put myself in the very short bunk. Tossed my kids in an they filled it up + when they were 10!

I see you were obviously familiar with the Elasticity Factor of your paint pot contents & applied it according to KR&O (or should that be QR&O?) where it states "500 Coats must be applied to any HM Vessels". If it had been El Cheapo crap from the big Green Shed it would have fractured.
