I did it - bottles blew up- no one died. The holes from the bottle embedded in the ceiling did take a little explaining to the land lord[biggrin][biggrin][biggrin]

"Police seized 2,000 bottles of alcohol on Saturday and said they had confirmed the bottles contained methanol, which is toxic"

My question is how many Russian Police tested the 2,000 bottles to determine they were toxic and how many police are among the "67 known victims of surrogate alcohol in the region, 34 of whom have died,"


I no longer make home brew happily. I did try a sip of a home still whisky ONCE- that was more than enough for me.

We have a distillery in the region that basically makes bulk alcohol and then adds flavouring. We called in there after a road trip where we had visited some very nice purveyors of wine and spirits including Baker Williams in Mudgee Baker Williams Distillery and after sampling a small amount I am trying to think of a use for it that does not involve consuming it.....

Yes first year university anatomy tutor used to have excellent parties in the faculty to distract us from classwork...involved pouring in the 70% pure ethanol into big bowls and added all sorts of flavours and drinking until basically we all fell over lol truth was he was a alcoholic and used it as an excuse..
