    Moreton Bay region infrastructure bombshell

Now, I considered where this should go, and came to the conclusion that there are a number of members in the region who may like to know this. Not all would be in current affair, and I'm suggesting the maximum number of members that live in the area would visit general chat. So, for better or worse, I decided to post it here. Sorry if it offends.

if only the walls could espouse what they had heard and seen...

all levels of government need the equivalent of icac, but with real teeth not the imitations they we have now

i could write a book on what i have seen with my own two eyes and heard first hand but i don't need that sort of hassle in my life...

all i can tell you out loud is that since the councils have been consolidated, the park out the back of my place is regularly mowed and has never looked better and the same can be said for the waterfront parkland...

    Very interesting story.
I wonder how those contributions compare with those levied under other councils? Are they excessive?

Well as a ratepayer in MBRC area I certianly don't want to be paying excessive rates to help some multi-millionaire developer make more multi-millions. My view is that if you want to develop a site then you cough up for most of the infrastructure, simple, it will be the council that will be required to maintain it after they've made their millions and moved on to the next area. Placing a Council in financial hardship/difficulty is not the way to grow and area.

I hope readers are not so naive to think that local government is honest and corruption free. I was involved in selling motor vehicles and plant to Qld. council;s for years. VERY FEW were totally straight. Some were as bent as the Burma Road. I could name names but will not.
