120,000 acres is nowadays considered the minimum size for a family run station in the Central West. Original holdings out there were up to 2,500 square miles (Elderslie). Sheep numbers on the bigger runs were as many as 400,000 (Wellshot).

We travelled Canberra to Victor last month, I reckon apart from dryish areas south of Yass ,the country right through was as good and bountiful as I have seen.

    Wonderful to see.

It's not about stations, I have helicopter mustered on much bigger stations. It's about cropping huge areas and the cost of providing and operating the equipment involved.

No one beats the Kiwis at rugby. [ we will soon though. ] Don't judge a book by its cover. Great to hear about the country, hope it lasts.

Snow is all very well, but could you southerners send up some rain please? One of our tanks is empty and needs refilling.
I see SE Qld is almost down to the 60% storage level at which the Gold Coast desalination plant might need to be started up.

No rain forecast here for about a week and nice mild low to mid 20C's , Great growing weather.

All my tanks are now full and I am going to install another 10,000l tank that I have acquired for $0 So hopefully another couple of inches more rain before the end of the season will fill that one as well.
All the crops around here are looking really good But they will still need a bit of finishing rain for a bumper harvest this year.

I will second that , I have two empty tanks & the third is almost empty. I drove across Wivenhoe Dam about a month ago the water was well down then .
