The one that surprised me was the flood in Port Macquarie.
The flood was in the main street which is like 200-300 metres to the ocean via the groyns.
I guess that the designers of the Groynes had to take into account boat safety but it seems to me they have created a choke point right at the entrance of the river to the sea.
The other one that surprised me was an interview with a bloke with a house on a slab on the Richmond flood plain and water had entered his garage already. Although I guess I shouldn't be surprised after Townsville and Emerald.
There was not much erosion at Avoca and probably Wamberal but I always ask myself the question "How come floods and bushfires are the individual house owner's (and insurance company) responsibility but when you build on a sandhill with no buffer and you house gets washed away it is somehow everyone else's responsibility" . In all cases building permission has be given by the council yet for bushfires the homeowner has to dig deep as the council and State Government introduce more stringent standards.
Near to my heart at the moment as our council is broke and already has put in 2million plus for rocks and our rates are going up 15% at least. A report by "experts" recommends AFAIR the council put in another 4 million.

140 mm overnight. Highest total since I have been keeping tabs on rainfall here. And still raining. Still no flooding though, luckily it was low tide at around midnight, so the majority of the water could get away. A king tide would have been a different story. Also just finished some work on our storm water drainage , after 35 years. Bone dry under the house, have to be happy with that. A 2.03 high tide at around 5 this morning and no flooding, we have nothing to complain about. I feel for all the people caught up in the NSW floods, been there before, and it is not good. Stay safe, you can replace a house, but my mate who died at Grantham in the big floods here back in the day is just a memory. Don't know where this weather system came from, but it's a beauty.
