From the news last night, it seems that the 95 year old tasered by police in Cooma has been in the news before - for celebrating her 80th? birthday by taking up skydiving (well, parachuting, anyway).

Fractured her skull in the fall. That bit is not at all funny. Poor police are in the firing line now.

De escalation process to calm feisty fit elderly with Dementia is needed by aged care staff and police. My dads recent escape and walk home from a visit to respite care visit was also in the Grumpy old Bugger camp

Sad one this. If the police were called it must have escalated beyond what the staff could handle. They will have had training in dealing with these situations and seen them on a regular basis. We do not know what happened here however Dementia patients can develop aggressive and violent tendencies which are well beyond the media image of an old lady hobbling towards someone

A good solid boot into the walking frame would have brought her to the ground where the cops could have got better aim to do the job properly. (TiC) of course.

Seems a bit ridiculous to me that they had to resort to a Taser when one cop distracting her & another couple jumping on her from another direction could have done the job. A Steak Knife my arse, most knives of that kind are usually blunt because of the cutting of food on a hard china plate seems to blunt them or so it seems to every restaurant I go to. 'elf & safety probably forbid any sharpening of knives in case any dissatisfied client goes Troppo.

Last report I read was that she probably will not recover & may even kick the bucket.

Went to the dump today. Queue to get in as gates were closed while some of the bins were emptied. Can understand why they do not want public running around while they are picking up and dropping off with their DROPS fitted trucks

Gates opened and was second vehicle in. Turned to right to back up to unloading area. Car a couple of places further back races through while I am backing up to go nose first into the unloading area. I was moving and missed then by centimetres

So adjust my line to the next parking space and keep moving backwards. Back of my car is level with the back of theirs and they open their drivers door as far as it will go. Had to stop again as they got out and walked to the back of their car. Am sure they did not look before opening door.

Now they had to carry their ‘recycling’ between the cars either side of them to dispose of it. Wonder why everyone else had backed in?

Despite their rush I was unloaded and on my way out before they had finished. Do I need to mention the car was a black BMW X5 hatchback

They often have a chemical "restraint" which is both shocking and required for some people. Dementia is the pits. All the staff and police and family must be very unhappy. Not a good outcome for anyone here.

It must be a little demanding when Cops approach "Suspects" to know when that person has Dementia
or is just being a standard mouthy gob****e , yes even at 95, or anyone, for that matter. Apparently Dementia can strike at any age. Sorry, what was the question?
