It is extremely difficult, but worth a go if in that situation.Making a hole big enough to get through would be virtually impossible.
Cargo barriers are supplied with glass breaking tools, but probably for only certain models.
For newer vehicles this will be mandatory in the near future.

Laminated side windows are an important safety feature in vehicles. They help to prevent occupants from being ejected from the vehicle in a crash and also help to keep the vehicle’s structure from collapsing in a rollover. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) requires that all vehicles have laminated side windows in order to be sold in the United States
You don’t make a hole.
You smack across the glass then ‘punch’ the middle to help it fold out of the frame.
Did the opposite years ago, my vehicle was stolen from a workshop (by key) and when found they had stripped it but graciously locked it before they left - we think plans were to come get the interior later.
Anyway, we couldn’t get IN… so glass breaker across the drivers window and my arm wrapped in a jacket to then collapse the glass, folding it from the frame.
