My best doctor story is when I arrived at 1430 for a 1500 doctor's appointment - and got in to see him at just after 7pm - and there were still two patients in the waiting room.

Bloody Hell John, that is taking the mick.

My pet hate is rocking up early or on time,then having to wait an hour or more to see the 'professional'

A while back i went to see my usual Doc,8.00am appointment,he wandered in at 9.26am.

The receptionist accidentally let on he had been doing 'night doc' at some other practise 4 nights a week.

I don't go there anymore.

My doctor's pretty good, the longest I waited once was 45 mins but that was because the receptionist didn't get my name, luckily the doctor realised I'd been sitting there awhile and asked what was going on.
At a lab I once got bumped back by 15 mins or so because an urgent case came in, so the pathologists bulk billed instead of charging full price.

Paul probably tried that one but then he realised that he (Paul) didn't accept the Medicare card, so thought about letting the GP's tyres down instead.

Just for a good story about a doctor - I needed new prescriptions, and my doctor (not the one mentioned above) had no appointments available, so I asked for first available (you can do that at this clinic) - My doctor walked past, spotted me, asked why I was not on her schedule, and when I explained, said "come on in now anyway!". I had been waiting about 15 minutes.

At the then local surgery it was common to wait 3/4 of an hour. I once waited an hour and a half.
But the Doc retired and the surgery closed.

At the next nearest place waiting ten minutes is a rarity. Usually in within five minutes of the given time.

That is great if it works out ok & may work if the Rooms have plenty of GPs but if you expressly wish to see "your own" that can always present a potential problem but fine if you are prepared to see another in the practice, which is probably ok for a cut finger. The Practice Nurse usually does that sort of stuff anyway but I believe there is a Professional/Legal limit to their Diagnostic Skills.

Mine own is always on time except when a heart attack, strokes, cancers and deaths similar precede my appointment. I am always amazed the Doctors are able to smile when they say hello after what I see them go through.

The Death reason would be a tricky one to improve upon.


Sometimes it pays to rock up earlier than one's appointed time as the GP could be running early with appointments, but not often I fear.

Suspect death is at times one of the easiest. Telling people or worse, mum and dads, some one has a terminal or serious illness seem a tough one plus to me. The ultra slow/late doctor is oddly one of the most heavily booked due to the fact she takes time plus with many issues beyond the 15 or 30 minute appointment time

The biggest and honestly BIGGEST PITA I saw was a person I'll nick name Voldemort.

Abused the crap out of me for suggesting her partner might need to see the doctor for a medical certificate. Doctor had not see the patient over the issue ever and its illegal for them to bull**** on them. Still thinking of tossing a grenade to her as her online trolling really makes me grumpy. She is a nurse and a complaint re her demands and ongoing abuse would likely giver her a big kick in the rear
