(Ya gotta give way, roight everybody?)

Oh no you don't Sonny Jim, not from behind a Give Way sign you don't. Cars that hat just overtaken & others were diving every which way. & I thought this is what Hiroshima must have looked like after it was nuked. Courtesy by other drivers saved the day as the initiating culprit drove calmly away with not even an acknowledgement wave. for those who had saved him from a stay in hospital & or a buggered car or death.

5 mins down the road an Ambulance went past with Blues & twos screaming . My immediate thought was hello ,Dick head has done it again.

Unfortunately we had to turn off before the prang so I don't know if Dickhead survived the day or not.

BTW, the chips which are usually excellent were really crap. Was my last visit to the Henley Beach of my childhood. It now looks a real dump of a joint. No longer could the sea air be smelt, just fried food & noise & old buildings have been altered out of sight & new ones built. Just a shame they all look like multi shoeboxes.

A polticical type HAS NOT said RING your Doctor re your Flu VAX

First time in years I have not got grumpy over the huge volume of calls we get after the RING YOUR DOCTOR make Medical reception riot quotes which happen almost every year

An orderly approach- I was advise we could order so did last week- The Free over 65 and free ones for people with chronic health conditions that qualify for a free government Vaccine. Booked nurse and opened bookings for Private, Free and Free Over 65 Flu vaccines

This morning the ones I pay for arrived shortly before an email with
    "Pause to influenza vaccine ordering

    • Initial supply of National Immunisation Program influenza vaccines has been exhausted and temporarily removed from ordering templates.

    "

I had no idea if my order last week was coming, Reduced or not coming. The phones at the poor delivery sods went into meltdown so know way to check!

The issue is short term apparently so don't panic unless you have spent a lot of time money and effort to set up several hundred vaccines next week

I think I need a new low stress job. Off for a run - If anyone sees a wet grumpy sod running about muttering to himself forgive me

How long before Prostate Cancer gets the same media exposure and research funding for that matter, as Breast Cancer???

On 9news program tonight (Brisbane) there was a story about a new prostate cancer drug. “This will be interesting”, I thought.

Well, the story didn’t appear until the beginning of the second half of the news hour and lasted all of 15 secs!!!

If this had been a story about a new breast cancer drug it would have appeared in the first 20mins and been at least 2mins, if not longer.

For years now prostate cancer has been duck shoved to the back of the line in everything from research, including funding, to media coverage.

Along the same lines as International Women’s Day. Every year there are headlines, lead up stories, major events, federally funded programmes, the list goes on.

Then you have International Men’s Day. Or should I say International Men’s Day. Which usually gets the same 15 second spot in the news that prostate cancer seems to get.

From Cancer Australia. Published January 2023.

Direct funding to Breast cancer research projects and programs increased from $33.4M in 2003–2005 to $91.3M in 2018–2020.
Direct funding to Prostate cancer research projects and programs increased from $13.2M in 2003–2005 to $34.2M in 2018–2020.

So, in 2003 – 2005 the disparity with funding was almost 60%. In 2018 – 2020 the disparity is over 60%, and the gap continues to widen.

More men die from prostate cancer than women die from breast cancer each year. So why the inequality in funding?

I’ll tell you why, because politicians are concerned that if they reduce funding to breast cancer research they will be seen as “anti-woman” or “anti-equality” or some other BS. And if they subsequently increase funding to prostate cancer they will be “seen” as not being concerned for women’s health, or some other BS. “But, hey we won’t give so much to prostate cancer because the blokes won’t mind.”

It’s about time we did mind!

But prostates aren't as "pretty" as (most) breasts. I mean, "phwoahh. look at the prostate on that" has been said by no one, ever.

Breast cancer has the potential to affect everyone, prostrate cancer only affects half the population.

Around 51% actually, but given potential world events that may change.

Yep, can't see a prostate so.... don't worry about it.

My father passed away from prostate cancer and I can tell you his treatment was very hit and miss, more miss.

Probably due to the lack of research funding into treatments, causes or survivability.

Here is the report from Cancer Australia (a federal government organisation )

There are lots of cancers that could use more research funding but there only appears to one that gets the bulk of it as well as the most research projects/programs.

Of the 3,200+ breast cancer deaths that will/may take place this year only about 30 will be male. Yes, blokes can get it too.
