So, they choose to make one of the few decisions left to them, and put granny in the car and go for a Sunday drive up to the Dandenongs, where they are constantly startled by the bends and curves, and positively terrified of trees. "Look! There's a tree! Oh no! There's another one!" Still, keeps the brake services busy.
Most are driving $100K+ cars, but they seem to be some special low power model, as they are incapable of overtaking the many cyclists that can be found doing 10 Kmh up the "occasional" hill they encounter.
I tend to stay at home on weekends and PHs, as it can take 15 minutes to get out of my street. If they must have "Devonshire Teas", why don't they go and live in Devon?

They would certainly know if the cream goes on first or after the Strawberry Jam.

    Well, they'd think they did.

Plenty of times in the past, James. I see no point going now, as any changes made won't be for the better. Up here is bad enough. I'll be staying home for the next couple of weeks, as it's bedlam up here at this time of year. Couple of early morning forays down to Monbulk for essentials and that's it. There are a few back roads between here and there, as yet undiscovered except by those following their sat navs and are now consequently thoroughly lost.

Monbulk he said. I remember the radio Prog, "The Monbulk Jamboree", a take on the Jam producers although Scouts did hold a Jamboree there once or twice.

    Circa 1950s

    No importance, just sayin'.

Notices a 'No Through Road' sign up your way which was a road my Landrover liked and clearly was not a dead end In the rain my quirky cheap care might slip a lot.

Its bedlam every where- Super glue the grin on and enjoy it The VW garden bed car park yesterday still has me smiling.

Been a long time since they made jam there. Not many up here now who remember the jam factory. The buildings have had a few other iterations.

Know what you mean, Southern Farmers (ex Farmers Union) here it was one of Australia's biggest dairy producers in Oz way back in 1888. Closed their doors & building at Woodside is now The Chocolate Factory plus a few other enterprises. In fact it was this time just before Xmas that I urgently installed Refrigeration Equipment in an old existing Ammonia Room to store Hams that were in sudden high demand. Been back a couple of times & of course it smells of Chocolate not curing Small goods. Used to like chatting to the Boiler Attendant/ Engine driver with mugs of tea early in the mornings. Ah happy days, wood smoke, oil & steam, a great combination for nostalgia. SAFU had Milk & Cheese factories all over SA. Along the River Murray milk was picked up by Work Boats & taken to the Factories. As I recall there were about half a dozen in the Lower SE of SA & stretched to the Mid North of SA. . I used to do a bi-monthly Preventive Maintenance Service run to all plants. One month up North the next month to the SE & so on. Their Cheese Factory at Milang was on Lake Alexandrina. An odd thing was they had originally constructed a Large Pipe from the bank of the lake to inside the factory under a roadway which allowed cooling air from the lake to "air condition" the factory. I seem to recall a news Item recently that reconstruction of the Building to an Arts Centre had re discovered this "duct" & they had done a bit of a story on it.

    I'm pretty Bloody annoyed!
2 weeks ago I arranged with my Assistant Manager that I would spend a week in Cloncurry for Christmas driving out today & back next Tuesday.
This was all agreed & we all seemed happy as she had recently had 5 weeks off.
A couple of days later she comes into the office & resigns. I think OK, 3 or 4 weeks notice, it will be all good.
She tells me she is leaving in 4 days! "What The?"
Next day we get a little storm, she tells me she is leaving NOW in case we get rained in.
I phone the boss & explain it to him & get told there is nobody to relieve or help due to the time of year etc.
Alright, so when is my replacement coming so I can move my stuff, get out of here & start my new job?
He tells me Maybe the 10th of January but maybe later.

So now I'm ****ed off X2!
I have had to phone my soon to be boss & delay my start date with the new job, he was very understanding.
I have also had to tell SWMBO that I will not be spending Christmas week with her & the explain why we should not get divorced or have bits of my anatomy chopped off, I can negotiate when I have to.
So I am driving to Cloncurry after work Christmas Eve, then back to Doomadgee Christmas night. Not my preferred plan but it pacified SWMBO a little bit.

I am also now concerned that due to my replacement arriving so late, my having to train them before I go & dodgy weather conditions I won't get to Curry in reasonable time to start my new job!
Yes, I can fly to Mt Isa & SWMBO can pick me up, but I would still have to return to Doomadgee to get my stuff, dog, car & whatever. Not a good plan.

Anyway, Merry Bloody Christmas to you all!!
