Taking my Bat and Ball- trying NOT to hurt Doctors and 1000s of people who see them

Dear all. Excuse me for putting a Health issue which needs help in Grumpy as it has POLITICAL parts. I think it is important to all in NSW and VIC and your help to ask your local to stop this crazy change and five year retrospective charge, penalties and interest from impacting on all in NSW and Victoria.

GPs threaten to shame premier on medical bills in payroll tax dispute
"The Andrews government on Saturday insisted there were no changes to Victoria’s tax system," GPs working in medical centres would be subject to payroll tax for the first time due to a ruling by the Victorian and NSW state revenue offices.

I run a medical business. Federal taxes are withheld and paid as required. VIC and NSW have changed the state payroll tax with changes where Doctors who have played by the RULES for decades are now in a NEW TAX GRAB++++++. My Gross payroll is or WAS well under state payrol tax thresholds. THIS IS A NEW Vic/NSW TAX!!!!!!

The Changes going forward are not appreciated. PAYING STATE PAYROLL TAX + PENALTIES + INTEREST on the tax grab is going to bankrupt many Medical Not just your Doctor!

State Revenue office VIC has caused one or more Medical Practices to Close already!! the NO CHANGE is MAJOR Changes and will cost you Directly in the reduction in Priate Medical Services.

Our Emergency Departments which are already overrun by issues your GPs can deal with are likely to be the main victim of the State Governments tax grab.

I am over running my medical business. I am taking my bat and ball and leaving while trying NOT to hurt Doctors and the Thousands of people who see them! Yep Dummy Spit plus by me

Accountants and RAGGP showing the IMPACTS and costs

This kicks your Doctor, specialist, chemist, physio and all heath professional in the future and Rudely for the last Five Years plus penalties and Interest for the new tax grab. It is rule changes at a State level only! You will get price increases at each of your healthcare providers except public hospitals emergency department!! The Government already cannot manage public health so is stuffing up private health now!

    SMS "security"?

Anyone else have problems with web based "services" requiring ID confirmation by SMS? From MyGov to my bank, they all want me to enter a code sent by SMS. OK, I get it, lots of shady people on the web. I have no real problem with that. But what happens when you have no mobile reception? Or, no mobile at all? Where I live atm I'm approx 30km from the CBD. At night I can see the lights of the city from my upstairs. Most days I have at best 'patchy' reception, mostly 3G, which they are helpfully switching off soon. Thanks to the reliability issues of FTTN NBN connections here I gave up on a landline.

PS. I know that MyGov uses a code generating app, but I needed an SMS to activate it......

This also applies to Qld but they are having a amnesty which doesn't mean the Doc's won't have to pay all or part of the tax, just a delay while they investigate. Payroll tax amnesty for contracted general practitioners - Queensland Revenue Office (qro.qld.gov.au)

The latest news is...."Treasury will issue a new Public Ruling next week that makes it clear that patient fees, including any out-of-pocket expenses, will not be subject to payroll tax when they are paid directly by a patient to a GP for that GP service.“This is a sensible decision that recognises most GPs work independently and should not be subject to payroll tax,” AMA Queensland President Dr Maria Boulton said." from Payroll tax decision a win for patients | Australian Medical Association (ama.com.au)

Not as bad, but I have had to go outside the building I was calling from to get the sms code on my mobile. Not sure what the alternaive is a I don't think they make the old radio pagers anymore.

I've also found some of the code generating services don't seem to work at night, as I've tried for an automated code and only received it the next day!

Most have the option to have the code sent to a verified e-mail - needs to be in the setup of the account.

I went into the village to get the mail today. The lady in charge of the shop was sorting a stack of plastic squares about 30cm across, each with a number. So I asked "Are you sorting them, or changing the price?"

The answer "They are all going up six cents a litre, if you want to get the lower price, go for it. So I put 87l of diesel in at $2.209 instead of the $2.269 that is changed to just after I filled up.

But it still came to nearly $200 to fill up!

I think I am justifiably grumpy!
