While I expected a lack of durability compared to my previous one that cost more than four times as much thirty years ago, I did not expect that "service parts" would become unavailable after three years. The saw actually works quite well, starts every time etc, so is satisfactory in that sense.)

Much to my surprise, I was able to order a replacement drive sprocket a month ago, and be told that it was available, but would take one or two months to get. Better than unavailable, even if it had to be paid in advance. Well, last week I got a call to say it was in, so this morning, I left on my trip to town early, and picked it up.

I have just pulled the saw apart, and got the old part off. And found that it is the wrong part. I called the store, and they called back a short while later, to say that part was unavailable. I am unsure what to do now - probably buy a "proper" saw for seven times the price! But certainly not from the same place. Unfortunately we are now facing three days of overcast, and without firewood that means no hot water!

So now I am really grumpy.
    Can't blame you!

The main one, though, was to have channels that catered to my interests. I set up one particularly foe electronics repair, and I have a handful of "creators" I like to watch. I tried to curate this channel to have pretty much only them, with other related in my feed. This worked, briefly. However I discovered that curating the algorithm is like herding cats. Clicking on the options like "not interested" or " don't recommend channel" only engages with the algorithm. It often feels that simply ignoring what I don't like or want also engages.... Some things just won't go away. So now it's going to be watch what I want and ignore everything else and see how it reacts. Even that doesn't really work though. Just because I watch one of my preferred YTers recap an old amplifier does not mean I want to watch someone else do it. Not as well. In Vietnamese. YT thinks I do.

Bloody spam. Or should that be scam? Amongst all the tripe about enhancing my manhood, funds I have hidden away in previously unknown digital currency accounts, threats to delete antivirus software accounts I neither have nor need, solicitations from young "ladies" who live quite close etc etc I have been getting emails telling me that if I don't take action they are going to delete my MyGov account. Makes me laugh. I guess that, unlike me, they have never tried to close a MyGov account of a deceased person. I can't begin to imagine how difficult it would be to close one for someone still breathing.
Muppets. Still, I guess that if even 0.0001% of their targets fall for this crap it's a win for them. To think I used to go crook at those bloody brochure/leaflet things that used to appear in my mailbox for the snails to eat.

Yesterday I had a dentist's appointment to replace a filling that came out. Went quite well, except.....

Most of you are probably familiar with the metal strip clamps that are put round a tooth to form a mould for the filling, and tightened by a small thumbscrew that sticks out the side of your mouth. This tooth was the furthest back, lower bottom.

With your mouth wide open, and the dentist having most of both hands plus an assortment of hardware in your mouth -

How do you tell him that as as well as tightening the thumbscrew he is winding part of your beard in with it!

Can anyone tell me what the point is of televisions in waiting rooms? Spending some time in them at the moment in hospitals and every one of them has at least one on the wall, tuned to some pointless garbage that nobody is watching. Wouldn’t it be better to spend the huge amount of money the things must cost on affordable parking?

Another thread had a post about how charging my car will soon cost LOTS (apparently) 50c pr km perhaps for public transport?

Vic made country train tickets very cheap. Costs less than a days public transport in zone 2 of Melbourne.

Try "$9.20 for a full fare or $4.60 for a concession. On a weekend or public holiday, daily fares are capped at $6.70 and currently just $3.35 for concession."

I was going to work out cost per Km then thought Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

hmmm grumpy thread! Ok I am still grumpy about people merging on 100kph roads at 20-40kph. Especaily if I am behind them and about to be the "rear ended" target!!!!!

I’m currently in the hospital waiting room with wife (been here nearly 5 hours). One TV is placed so I can just see it. It’s showing Ch9.

The other has been showing the same half dozen images of famous paintings - over and over:

What I need is to not have cancer. Then I wouldn't have to see the things.
